U.S. team to supervise settlement boundaries

State Department official Constance Mayer is shortlisted to head an American team of experts coming in a few days to supervise the delineation of the construction boundary line in the settlements.

Mayer is a senior Middle East analyst in the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR), which was praised for its sceptical position before the war in Iraq.

American and Israeli sources confirmed that Mayer will be a member of the team but said it has not been decided yet whether she would head it.

Mayer, who is considered a map expert, formerly served in the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem, specializing in surveillance after Israeli activity in the territories.
