The Berkeley Intifada?
This is what Political Correctness has become. Mere opponents are falsely denounced as "racists" while virulently racist allies are given a pass by the very same people.

It's bad enough that the torchbearers of Political Correctness compromised their honorable anti-racist principles with expediency and hypocrisy. But what's left of Political Correctness is worse even than that. There's also something implicitly racist about it. White Christians are held to the highest possible standard. They're expected not to have a racist thought in their heads and are called out for the slightest infraction. Culprits who really are racist (and who aren't merely guilty of checking the "wrong" box on their voter registration) deserve all the shellacking they get. Meanwhile, however, ethnic and religious minorities are allowed to behave like skinheads. It looks as though the activist set expects hatemongering anti-social behavior from Muslim immigrants just as they expect a dog to pee on the rug. It's the "soft bigotry of low expectations" with a racial twist.

I could be wrong. Maybe the double standard isn't racist at all. Maybe it's all about fear. For the politically correct activist, nothing is worse than being denounced as a racist. Who would want to suffer the Daniel Pipes treatment? Criticize Muslim anti-Semitism and your comrades just might lump you in with the Klan. Maybe the PC brigade is afraid -- literally -- of itself.

If skinheads or neo-Nazis were behind the spasms of anti-Semitism we all know there would be huge demonstrations and community action to neutralize and expunge it. Whenever the Klan plans rallies anywhere they face enormous counter-protests. But since the new anti-Semitism is imported from another part of the world, too many people feel queasy about taking a stand against immigrants.

1. "It's the Jews, stupid."
"Almost three years later, Weinberg graduates this month as a student whose days at Cal were marked by what he calls "pinnacles of horror," in the pinched tone of a man betrayed. He remembers pro-Palestinian protesters insisting that Israeli border crossings are as bad as Nazi death camps. He remembers the glass front door of Berkeley's Hillel building -- where he attends Friday night services -- shattered by a cinderblock, with the message FUCK JEWS scrawled nearby. He remembers the spray-painted swastikas discovered one Monday morning last September on the walls of four lecture rooms in LeConte Hall accompanied by the chilling bilingual message, "Die, Juden. "

2. Not a Credible Source
When I saw the sub-head "Where Free Markets Meet Technology" I suspected creeping Ayn Rand-ism, and I didn't have to look far to find it. In the same issue is a piece by a professor describing how he went from being a benighted leftist to an admirer of Ronald Reagan. Ho hum. This stuff is so tedious.:

I was, as I say, a fool. The fog began to clear from my eyes when the Iranians released the hostages on the eve of his inauguration, obviously terrified of what Reagan would do if they didn't. They believed in him, so to speak, and maybe they had seen something that I had missed.

3. If the Israelis weren't behaving like tyrants...
...they would get a lot more sympathy fom rme. Please not eI said Israelis not Jews. There is a world of differfence between the two which seems to have been overlooked by the jackass who wrote "Fuck Jews" on the wall. Sadly it is also somethign overlooked by hte majority of those supporting Israels actions, including the ADL.

4. Problem is real but techcentralstation is usually a poor source of facts
While techcentralstation is a Fox like source, I agree the hate crimes against Jews by some Muslim folks and their friends - in the EU especially - are getting a muted reaction that is disturbing.

6. Same reason that "cracker" doesn't have the same impact as
other slurs. This isn't the historical oppressors of Jews using those words. It's still rancid bigotry, but it is being said by people wholly without the means to carry it out.

Most Americans also don't have really high expectations for Stalinists or people from the Mideast in general, so the absence of outrage at expected behavior really isn't that odd.

Totten is one of those phony "liberals" who has a shrine to GW Bush in his home.
