IDF officer killed in Balata camp; Al-Aqsa claims shooting

Captain Shahar Ben-Yishai, 25, was killed Saturday morning in an exchange of gunfire between Palestinians and paratroops under his command during an operation in the Balata refugee camp just outside the West Bank city of Nablus.

Ben-Yishai, from Moshav Menachamia in the Jordan Valley, was killed while searching a house in the southern outskirts of the refugee camp.

A spokesman for Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades later said that its gunmen had fired the shots that killed Ben-Yishai.

The company under Ben-Yishai's command arrived at the house at around 5:30 A.M., after receiving intelligence information on terror activity taking place in the building.

him become the same as murder? Killing civlians is murder. Soldiers killing each other is war.

down the throats of the Palestinians. He sure as hell didn't die for anything nobel. The soldiers he was trying to kill on the otherhand would have died to end this situation. Apartheid is not nobel. Neither are settlements. That Israelis soldiers continue to have their idealism abused by Sharon and the settler fanatics is a sad thing indeed.

He was trying to kill other soldiers whom you term as noble? Since when do the Palestinians have anything but civilian deaths. All soldiers are equal. This was near Nablus, not near a settlement. I think you are confused, but of course I'm wrong, being just another bigoted Israeli, concerned about Jewish lives, all which should have been driven into the sea long ago.

this is obviously not a civlian death. Many of the other deaths have been IDF as well. Soldiers killing soldiers isn't murder. It is war. The IDF have targeted civilian protesters, and killed reporters. I don't advocate driving Israel into the sea. I advocate two REAL states. One in Israel proper for Jews and one on the entire west bank and gaza for Palestinians. If that won't happen I advocate one binational secular state for both Jews and Palestinians.
