Top EU, UN Chiefs Demand Halt To Israeli Demolitions

Big News Network.com Saturday 15th May, 2004


A European Union representative, Ireland's Foreign Minister Brian Cowen, the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, and the Acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Bertrand Ramcharan, have called on Israel to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip border town of Rafah.

Gun battles ensured Friday as Israeli army bulldozers demolished 35 homes, adding to the scores already destroyed this week. Military officials say hundreds of homes are scheduled for demolition in retaliation for the deaths 13 soldiers this week.

Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported panic-stricken residents grabbing whatever belongings they could carry before fleeing their homes, some waving white flags at approaching Israeli forces, according to local witnesses.

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the UN's top human rights official voiced their dismay at the violence and destruction in Gaza this week......

if they stop making Palestinians homeless and angry. They are fucking themselves, not the EU or the UN.

4. Arafat requested a restart of negotiations long ago
. Israel wouldn't do it. So the blame goes both ways.
