Two of the three men apprehended by undercover Border Policemen in the French Hill neighborhood in Jerusalem in late April confessed Sunday to murdering David Mordechai, 57, and the attempted murder of his son, Menachem, 25, in the Musrara neighborhood of the capital in March of last year.
The three members of the cell allegedly shot and killed university student Geoge Khoury in French Hill in March of this year.
Last month, the three, Louay Kurnaz, 19, of Ramallah, and cousins Amar and Sajid Abu Alous, 18, of the village of Aqeb in north Jerusalem, admitted to shooting Khoury and attempting to murder Nir Gil, a 24-year-old university student, in April in the Givat Hamivtar neighborhood, also in northern Jerusalem.
After the March 2003 incident, police said that David and Menachem had just parked their car but were still inside when the assailant ran up and shot them with a pistol at close range. A municipal traffic inspector, who happened to approach the car for a routine inspection a few minutes later, found them lying in a pool of their own blood and summoned the security forces and an ambulance. David Mordechai died of his wounds, and the shooting attack left Menachem Mordechai paralyzed.
