Kerry: Arafat has become 'an outlaw to the peace process'
By The Associated Press

TAMPA, Florida - John Kerry says he no longer considers Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to be a statesman, but rather "an outlaw to the peace process" in the Middle East who has been rightly shuffled aside.

In a 1997 book, Kerry described "Arafat's transformation from outlaw to statesman." But in an interview with The Associated Press on Monday he said he no longer views Arafat favorably.

"Obviously, Yasser Arafat has been an impediment to the peace process," said Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee-in-waiting. "He missed a historic opportunity and he's proved himself to be irrelevant."

1. And Sharon is working for peace?
If he is, he has a funny way of doing it, by shooting kids in the back and bulldozing houses and people.

4. The road to peace
takes many hands. Not all of them are Sharon's.

8. Very true....
so many hands on all sides are so bloody... But as long as someone can profit on the suffering of men, Israeli and palistinian children will continue to die.

5. Indeed
That would make a most interesting signature line, if only the rules allowed.

6. Encouraging
Kerry must distance himself from the weasel. Strong support of Israel is required.

7. I would consider
the weaponry and billions shipped to Israel (to be used on a basically defenceless civillian population) strong enough support. Perhaps it's time for someone to take an even-handed approach to I/P

Oh fuck, there I go again....

9. No one defends the civilians
under Arafat. That is a tragedy. They are not "offensiveless" however.

The civilians are the victims on both sides. Thank G-d the IDF defends Israeli civilians.

11. By defending the borders
that means checkpoints at entrances, or closures when necessary, by foiling attackers, something every citizen is trained to do as well. Alert citizens have foiled several bombings in the past year alone.

Palestinian terrorists care only about murder, they hide among the citizens and use children as guards.
