Israeli barrier wrecking chances of Mideast peace, Palestinians tell ICJ
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1503&ncid=1312&e=2&u=/afp/20040223/ts_afp/mideast_barrier_icj_040223152910

The Palestinians urged the world court to declare Israel's West Bank barrier illegal, arguing that it would wreck the chances of a peaceful settlement in the Middle East.

Israel meanwhile boycotted the hearing and rejected the criticism as one-sided.

As the hearing began Monday, about 1,000 pro-Israeli demonstrators outside the court filed past the wreckage of a bus blown apart in a suicide attack, while thousands of Palestinians staged protests against what they called the "racist" wall in the West Bank and elsewhere the Middle East.

In an attempt to straddle the divide, the European Union (news - web sites) reiterated its view that the barrier was "unlawful" and counterproductive for peace, but said it was opposed to legal action before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) since Israel had rejected the court's jurisdiction.

Qidwa, the Palestinians' permanent representative at the United Nations (news - web sites), said construction was destroying the internationally-backed peace plan known as the roadmap which aims to create an independent Palestinian state by next year.

.....................................................................

Qidwa is duplicitous ....he wont make one comment on the
atrocities carried out by the palestinians.

total kangaroo court.

1. That's a joke, right?
A fence wrecks peace, but blowing up buses doesn't?

2. Apparently so.
What have the Palestinians done for peace? Dismantled the terror infrastructure... no... stop spreading hate in the schools... no... quit treating Hamas nicely... you get the picture.

6. not a kangaroo court at all..
but the legal arm of the UN GA..made up of judges from around the world to deliver a non-binding decision on a matter of legalities referred to it by the GA..your comments show extreme bias and are taken as such..

8. The UN is wildly anti-Israel
So, it's legal arm is simply one piece of that anti-Israel body.

7. While I agree
those pesky groups like Hamas aren't exactly helping the cause of peace either.
