Two more sections of security barrier to be dismantled
At additional cost of NIS 100 million.

---

he media hype surrounding the dismantlement of a section of the
security barrier in the Baka al-Sharkia area today has diverted attention
from at least two more sections slated to be dismantled and rebuilt, at a
cost of an additional NIS 100 million.

During a night session in the Knesset last week, Deputy Defense
Minister, Zeev Boim (Likud) revealed that Israel is indeed rerouting the
fence in three locations at least. Boim?s remarks came in response to a
question posed by MK Ophir Pines (Labor), who inquired about the
government?s considerations in determining the route of the barrier.

At the meeting it emerged that Israel is making changes in the barrier
not only in the Baka a-Sharkia area, but also in two other places: in the
city of Qalqiliya and in the village of Khirbat Jabara near Taibeh. The
cost of these changes, including dismantling the existing fence segments,
moving them and rebuilding them along another route is NIS 100 million.
