'Smugglers' shot in south Israel
Israeli police say they have shot dead an Egyptian smuggler and wounded another as they attempted to bring a shipment of weapons across the border.
The two men were among a group carrying 20 Kalashnikov assault rifles in the Negev desert near Israel's southern border with Egypt, according to police spokesman Yossi Kepel.

"A police unit intercepted a group of four smugglers in the Nitzana area", he said.

They had opened fire when police realised they were armed and had refused to stop, he added.

You run guns into a country, you're violating the law.

11. So you dont believe in due process either?
If they're guilty, which I'm sure they were, arrest them and try them.

I'm glad police in this country don't take the advice of some here.

12. I agree
If were possible, the Israelis should have arrested the men.

I tend to give the Israelis the benefit of the doubt, however, given that they were dealing with very heavily armed gun runners, not car thieves.

4. Yes.
I hope when we finally capture Osama bin Laden, we take Dr. Dean's advice and give Mr. bin Laden the presumption of innocence!

You are so right.

14. Futility
"Did you hear that tanks and helicopters and infantry attacks every day crowded camps in Gaza? Did you know that in February 72 Palestinians were killed, among them children younger than 10 years old? Did you catch that multi-story buildings are demolished in the middle of the winter leaving hundreds without a roof since perhaps there isone enemy living there? Do you comprehend how much mourning and despair and hatred it creates? Do you understand the price Israel will pay in blood and wealth for these crimes?"
