Israeli Soldier's Charges Are Upgraded
An Israeli soldier has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting of...22-year-old Tom Hurndall, was shot in the head April 11 while in southern Gaza Strip with the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group whose activists volunteer to serve as buffers between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians. He died in a London hospital Jan. 13... Because Hurndall has died, the charges were upgraded to manslaughter..The soldier has not been identified.

He is also accused of two counts of obstruction of justice, one count of submitting false information, one count of soliciting the submission of false information, and one count of unbecoming conduct, the military said.

Hurndall, a student, was shot in the Rafah refugee camp, where he was photographing the work of the International Solidarity Movement. Witnesses said he was trying to help children out of the path of an Israeli tank when the shot was fired.

At the time of his arrest, the soldier claimed Hurndall was holding a pistol, but later admitted the activist was unarmed...

1. Yes!!!!
Chalk up a third IDF soldier to receive punishment!

Lets see if this sentence is anything longer than a suspended one. If so, record!

2. Here's an interesting story. Just coincidence, of course
Britain has given the Israeli defence minister Shaul Mofaz an assurance of immunity from arrest in connection with allegations of crimes against humanity when he arrives in London today.
Human rights lawyers accused the government of a "creative legal interpretation" designed to protect him from a Scotland Yard investigation during his four-day visit.

Mr Mofaz, the army chief of staff during the Israeli military reoccupation of West Bank cities in 2002, left Britain hurriedly during a visit 16 months ago after lawyers for Palestinian families sent a dossier of alleged war crimes to the director of public prosecutions.

Israel sought the assurance of immunity. The Foreign Office said it had not offered a guarantee but had consulted the Metropolitan police, who said Mr Mofaz was entitled to diplomatic immunity. The Met declined to discuss how the decision was reached...
