Sharon's ally safe from arrest in Britain
Britain has given the Israeli defence minister Shaul Mofaz an assurance of immunity from arrest in connection with allegations of crimes against humanity when he arrives in London today.
Human rights lawyers accused the government of a "creative legal interpretation" designed to protect him from a Scotland Yard investigation during his four-day visit.

Mr Mofaz, the army chief of staff during the Israeli military reoccupation of West Bank cities in 2002, left Britain hurriedly during a visit 16 months ago after lawyers for Palestinian families sent a dossier of alleged war crimes to the director of public prosecutions.

The DPP passed the file, to Scotland Yard to investigate the claim that he was responsible for targeted assassinations, the destruction of homes and other breaches of international humanitarian law.

Diplomatic channels must remain open. Also, some so-called crimes are necessary in the defense of Israel. I will leave it at that.

5. Targeted assasinations and destruction of homes
are responses to attacks on Israel. People and homes are not eliminated indiscriminately. It is done with purpose.

9. "some so-called crimes are necessary in the defense of Israel"
Well, that 'splains everything.
War crimes are okey-dokey when it's an IDF operative.

(With an 'oh my' thrown in for good measure).

11. At times
it is necessary for Israel to eliminate individuals and structures in her own defense. If some choose to call those war crimes, I am not concerned.
