Legal warning to MP after Muslim terrorism claim
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2003/12/20/nellm20.xml&sSheet=/portal/2003/12/20/ixportal.html

A Labour MP was threatened with legal action last night after using Parliamentary privilege to accuse a Muslim activist of having links with Islamic terrorists.

Louise Ellman claimed Assam Tamimi, who leads the Muslim Association of Britain, used his speeches to promote hatred against Jews and the destruction of the state of Israel.

She told MPs it was "time the spotlight fell on the Muslim Association of Britain" and its key figures such as Mr Tamimi. She said: "All of them are connected to the terrorist organisation, Hamas... It is militantly anti-semitic and always has been."

Mrs Ellman quoted from a number of Mr Tamimi's speeches, including one in Vienna in which he reportedly said that Israel would be destroyed and replaced by an Islamic state, and that the Jews should "sail on the sea in ships back to where they came from and all drown in it." Addressing a Palestinian Solidarity rally in Westminster last year, Mr Tamimi allegedly said: "Listen, Israel and Jews around the world, unless you change there is no future for you."

ah...nice guy....the Sami of the Brits.

1. Yeah
No problem with Tamimi using speeches to promote anti-Semitism, that's OK but calling him on it is horribly unfair.

Yet another wonderful double standard heard from.

2. Louise Ellman possibly appears to be slightly biased

...pro- Zionist MPs, such as Andrew Dismore (Hendon) Stephen Twigg (Enfield Southgate), Rudi Vis (Golders Green), Louise Ellman (Liverpool Riverside), and James Clappison (Hertsmere).

but I can give an answer. Rather like the product of his organizational ability, not too familiar with his works & writings individually but the M.A.B. is a group I am familiar with and think favourably of.

As for the Blair cheerleader making this claim--she's very fond of that mass murderer Blair, and somewhat known for her racist anti-Arab and Zionist political outlook. It is from this outlook that she fully supports the Israeli war against Palestinians and the criminal aggression against Iraq.

8. Really ??
"M.A.B. is a group I am familiar with and think favourably of."

this is an interesting part:

"Mrs Ellman quoted from a number of Mr Tamimi's speeches, including one in Vienna in which he reportedly said that Israel would be destroyed and replaced by an Islamic state, and that the Jews should "sail on the sea in ships back to where they came from and all drown in it."

i'm sure you think as "favourably" of that as i do.

(i'm getting nervous)

4. She has a position on the I/P. So?
Is that why no one else complained about the comments of the Arab MP?

5. Ohhhh.... thats different
shes a zionist plant who has no right to comment on
anything about jihadofascism.

Tamini is obviously a peaceful man who really undertands
everything and supports the peace activists known as
hamas. In fact, i think he's up for a nobel peace prize.

9. Ellman should repeat these remarks
outside of the confines of the house of commons..then if Mr Tamimi chose to pursue through civil actions..Ms Ellman unsubstantiated (at this time) claims..could therefore be verified..and Mr Tamimis position as spokesman for MAB would come under intense public scrutiny..
