4. Why was this moved from GD? It's the kind of balanced discussion
about the ME that everyone needs to know about. Most people stay away from the IP boards because of the attack dogs there and not being able to make a point without being harrassed as an anti-Semite.

6. And it happens to be about US policy as well
Hence, legitimate. Though that doesn't count for much.

9. US policy affects Israel/Palestine every single day
Every day that goes by reduces the chance of a two-state solution being implemented, because the US is blocking such a solution.

It is blocking it right now. Hence any discussion has to be about US policy, by definition.

12. Not strictly true
The US and Israel are seeking peace, but they happen to define peace differently than most rational people (i.e. the rest of the planet).

This sort of thing is quite an interesting topic actually - it is a convention in 100% of the mainstream media (not 99 or 98.9 or something -- 1 hundred percent) that whatever the United States happens to be doing at any given moment equals "the peace process".

So given the use of that term, it naturally turns out that if you are opposed to US policy, you're against the peace process. It doesn't matter whether you are in favour of literal peace, the conclusion that you're against peace is self-evident, just on definition alone.

13. so what does 'peace' mean
to US and Israeli planners? That the people they oppress should just welcome their imperialism with open arms, and submit to their rule?
