Israeli settlers blow up Palestinian home
http://www.presstv.com/detail/207039.html

Israeli settlers have again attacked a Palestinian household in the village of Beit Fureeq near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, blowing up a vehicle and part of a house, Press TV reports.

Belongings of several members of the Palestinian family were destroyed in the attack, which took place in early hours of Thursday.

5. If it were reversed, the forum members would question the veracity of the story
I, too, question the accuracy of a story only published on the Ayatollah's network.

16. I condemn violence from the RW settlers, and I condemn violence from Hamas...
But I don't trust ArutzSheva for stories about the latter, and I don't trust PressTV for stories about the former. PressTV has an agenda, shall we say.

6. Same story from Ma'an News
Home near Nablus 'firebombed by settlers'

NABLUS (Ma'an) -- A family in Nablus says Israeli settlers blew up a room in their home and firebombed their jeep early Thursday.

Shaheer Hanini, 40, told Ma'an the family was woken by two blasts at their home in Beit Furik at around 2 a.m.

http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=432997

Also from WAFA:

NABLUS, October 27, 2011 (WAFA) – Jewish settlers Thursday set fire to a room and a car that belong to a Palestinian resident of Beit Furik, a town southeast of Nablus, according to Atef Hanani, mayor of the town.

He said that settlers, apparently from nearby settlements of Itamar and Alon Moreh, came to the house of Mashhour Hanani in the northern section of the town where they set fire to a room in the back of the house by cutting off the hose of a gas cylinder and setting it on fire causing heavy damage to the entire room and its contents.

The settlers also poured flammable material on a car parked near the house, burning it down.

That's why I prefer those other sources (though they have their biases as well of course).

14. Ma'an, Wafa, and the Palestine News Network
Along with PressTV and a few other outlets that lifted the story verbatim from one of the aforementioned sites.

15. While such things are not beyond possibility, I wouldn't take PressTV's word for it.
They are essentially controlled by the Iranian government; and we know what that government thinks of 'Zionists'.

Any decent source for the story?

20. what in your opinion is a "decent source"
it was reported in Ma'an yesterday and oddly when something from Ma'an like honor killings or executions done by Palestinians are reported I do not see anyone questioning the source, why is that do you think?

21. One of my favorite stories Ma'an runs occasionally is the one about Zionist attack pigs...
Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 02:57 PM by shira
...or boars that specifically target Palestinians.

Those crafty Israelis, I'm telling you....

Look it up.

Ma'an is not as bad as PRESSTV but they make ARUTZ SHEVA look reasonable in comparison.

Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 03:43 PM by azurnoir
Farmers in Salfit are asking the authorities to do more to prevent wild boars from damaging crops, after they blamed local settlers for new damage on Saturday.

Farmers say the boars destroyed a fence and broke branches on fig trees. They said they were afraid to remain on their land and appealed for help to protect their property.

Iknow those nice settlers would never ever do anything like that huh?

the actions of settlers has a bit of a problem along with the appearance of equating Zionism to settlers ?

32. I'm no fan of PressTV but there does seem to be a precedent for that type of behaviour

...

Three cars were torched in the early hours of Thursday morning in the village of Beit Furik, just outside Nablus -- an area home to some of the most ideological members of the settler movement.

Beit Furik Mayor Atef Hanani said it was the first time settlers had staged such an attack in the village. "People are on guard," he added. "We need to take a stand to defend ourselves and our property."

...

"There is a long term systemic failure to protect Palestinians and their property from the violence of Israeli citizens in the occupied territories," said Sarit Michaeli, a spokeswoman for the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem.

"The actual impact of one of these attacks is much larger than just the localized problem. It could lead to a major escalation."

U.N. Urges Israel to Stop Settler Attacks

October 11, 2011 | Associated Press

GENEVA -- The U.N. human rights office called Tuesday for Israel to stop Jewish settlers from attacking Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, accusing the army of failing to restrain settlers while being quick to use force against Palestinians

...

"The accountability for settler violence against Palestinians is less than adquate, let's say, and certainly not comparable to the reverse cases," said Colville. "When Palestinians attack settlers there's always very, very strong reaction."
