Viewpoint: 'Released Palestinian prisoners are heroes'
Excerpt:

'Legitimate target'

As a Palestinian, I also perceive Omar and all the Palestinian prisoners as national heroes. They have sacrificed themselves for the Palestinian struggle.

I also believe Gilad Shalit was a legitimate target for capture. As I remember, he was inside a tank while on patrol near the border with Gaza at the time. He was a soldier in the Israeli army, which has murdered Palestinian women and children. The world should not value an Israeli's life more than a Palestinian's.

Israel has attacked Palestinian towns and cities, destroying our houses and snatching our land. It continues to carry out incursions into the West Bank and puts Palestinians behind bars for long periods without charge.

Despite all this, I am pleased that Gilad Shalit has been reunited with his family, as have many Palestinians, including Omar.

1. Palestinian government and terrorists value Israeli life more than Palestinian life
1000 times more to be exact.

"The world should not value an Israeli's life more than a Palestinians."

Why should the "world" not do it?

It seems Palestinian leadership does not? ( supported by their people)

3. They sure are. So the swap should've been 1 for 1. I think Israel would have agreed to that. n/t

5. Strange way of showing it....
While I'm sure that just like Israeli leaders, Palestinian leaders value the lives of their own people more highly than the 'other', it's really quite nonsensical to claim they have some ratio system going...

6. That's just you trying to whitewash their actions
The recent "exchange" shows us that the Palestinian
government (in Gaza) values an Israeli Jewish soldiers life to a
Palestinian prisoners life in a ratio of 1:1000.

I know it doesn't fit into your narrative , but
it is what it is. They successfully negotiated this swap
In that nonsensical ratio.
