Gov't disturbed by cropped photos
The blogosphere was in an uproar Monday regarding allegations that the Reuters news service had intentionally cropped-out incriminating details from photos released a day earlier by a Turkish newspaper showing bloodied IDF naval commandos aboard one of last week’s Gaza-bound protest ships.

The photos, which were published on Sunday in the Turkish Hürriyet daily, showed images of the commandos, their fatigues stained with blood, subdued by passengers aboard the Mavi Marmara – the only vessel where violence erupted when the commandos attempted to board.

But when the photos were released by Reuters later in the day, bloggers immediately cried foul, taking note of discrepancies between the Turkish originals and two in particular that had been filed by the international news organization, claiming that Reuters had purposely excluded a knife from one of the photos, and a knife and even some blood in another.

At the popular blog Little- GreenFootballs.com, which initially took note of the missing knife, the blog’s founder, Charles Johnson, posted the story along with exhibits of both sets of pictures.

1. Here's a website with the cropped photos.

Looks like some people at Reuters would prefer that those who fought the IDF on the Marmara were really innocent peace activists.

The goons who chose to attack IDF soldiers must be considered humanitarian peace activists, you know.

Israel must be demonized.

9. Israel is run by a righwing government, and the motherfuckers take $3 billion from USA a year
I rather we invest that money in America, and put Americans to work, than to give it to a bunch of fascist gangsters in Jerusalem.

What do you think about that idea, shira? Money for America, or money for Israel? Take your pick!

Israel to Get $30 Billion in Military Aid From U.S.

By STEVEN ERLANGER
Published: August 17, 2007

JERUSALEM, Aug. 16 — Israel and the United States signed a deal on Thursday to give Israel $30 billion in military aid over the next decade in what officials called a long-term investment in peace.

The officials insisted that the deal was not dependent on a simultaneous American plan for $20 billion in sales of sophisticated arms to its Arab allies, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia. But Israeli officials acknowledged that the aid to Israel would make it easier for the Bush administration to win Congressional approval of the arms sales to Arab countries.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of Israel has not objected to those arms sales, saying that he understands the United States’ need to support moderate Sunni Arab states that, like Israel, are opposed to Shiite Iran’s reach for regional supremacy and nuclear weapons.

4. LittleGreenFootballs?
Good grief, Max Blumenthal is right. The hard right in Israel is promoting a nationalistic wave using disreputable American sources like Glenn Beck.

From his interview with Amy this morning:

"The distribution of this video by the IDF general press office—and it’s also being passed around on the Facebook pages of a lot of mainstream Israeli journalists, according to my journalistic colleague Didi Remez, who monitors the Israeli media at a website called coteret.org—shows the collective insanity that’s taken hold in Israel, as the Israeli government and many people in the Israeli media apparently thought that this footage, which is just going to be clearly racist to anyone outside of this country—anti-Arab, just absolutely disgusting—was effective hasbara. Hasbara is the Hebrew word for public diplomacy or, at worst, propaganda. And they believe that their own government had failed them in terms of hasbara, so they should resort to footage like this from people who are government apologists, like Caroline Glick, but who aren’t within the government. People in—some of the Israeli journalists I refer to have been distributing Glenn Beck’s—clips of Glenn Beck mocking the Gaza flotilla, as if Glenn Beck were somehow a credible source. People here in the media don’t seem to understand that Glenn Beck is absolutely not credible and is regarded with scorn by the mainstream press throughout the world. And so, this shows not only the catastrophe of public relations, but also the mood that’s taken hold here, which is extremely right-wing and relying on American neocons and American demagogues, like Glenn Beck, to tell the Israeli side of the story."

Clearly they are not helping, let's make that clear. Clearly Hamas and Israel are both fucked up warmongers who have done equally heinous things in the name of what THEY and THEY alone think is right, but that's beside the point.

What else do you expect the Palestinians to do? I know you want them to roll over and die like the animals they are... :eyes:

None of this bullshit gives Israel the right to treat people that way. Did you even read your post? You want to evoke imagery of Holocaust, the isolation of one race being tortured and killed by another, when that is exactly what Israel is doing to Palestine? Bull fucking shit! You lose the right to use any of that horror when you engage in the same! Period!

14. The most pathetic part of this new bulleria from the Israeli hard right
is that they are desparate to focus on THE KNIFE and not on THE DOCTOR who is attending to these downed soldiers in that photograph. Because that is the indonesian doctor from another angle. This doctor:

Does anyone know if that doctor died from his gunshot wounds or if he's in hospital somewhere?

They want you to look at the paring knife, not the dead doctor.

This is a keen example of the intellectual honesty of both the IDF and their defenders in this atrocity.
