Knesset member may lose her citizenship for joining flotilla
An Israeli MP faces being stripped of her citizenship for boarding the Gaza-bound aid flotilla that ended in a bloody showdown with Israeli naval commandos last week.

The move to strip Haneen Zoabi of her citizenship is being driven by the Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, who has accused the Palestinian Knesset member of an act of treason.

In a letter to the Attorney-General, Yehuda Weinstein, on Friday, Mr Yishai also demanded that Ms Zoabi be stripped of her parliamentary immunity.

''In recent days,'' he wrote, ''Israel's citizens have witnessed how an Israeli member of parliament, Haneen Zoabi, headed a group of terrorists who aimed to hurt Israel Defence Forces soldiers, under the protection of her parliamentary immunity. ''Zoabi used her immunity as a cloak to protect her from the law, although she was undoubtedly aware of the activists' preparations for the attack against troops.

''This is a premeditated act of treason and there is documented proof of this.''

4. Eli Yishai -- right wing racist
He is leader of the right wing Shas Party and is regarded on a level with Jim DeMint, Michelle Bachmann, and Tom Tancredo. (He called for an end to all immigration because immigrants transmit diseases ???)

He was booed not too long ago when speaking to an American Jewish group for his insulting comments towards the Reform movement.

5. there is a 2007 poll in which
47% of Israeli Jews felt that Israeli Arabs should be "encouraged" to leave Israel. this could be the spark that lights that fire

8. Only 53 percent of the Israeli Arab public believe Israel has a right to exist
40 percent of Israeli Arabs believe the Holocaust never occurred.

Clearly there are some serious issues between the communities.

11. And that percentage used to be much higher.

For a long time, Israeli Arabs were FINE with Israel's existence. It was discrimination and harassment(plus the eighteen years of martial law imposed on them at the start of Israeli statehood)that caused the erosion of support.

Israel's mistreatment of its internal Arab population is turning allies into enemies. If they'd just treated them as full equals from the start, this would not be happening and Israel would have lost nothing in terms of security.

If you believe people are against you and treat them as such, you'll always end up turning that into the truth.
