Ex-U.S. envoy to UN: Obama policy 'bad news for Israel'
<snip>

"Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said Friday that the Obama administration's fixation on resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians as a means of achieving peace and stability in the Middle East is "bad news for Israel, and for America."

In an article published in the daily New York Post on Friday, John Bolton said that the pressure that the U.S. administration will exert in efforts to resolve the crisis, will be turned with force against Israel, being a U.S. ally.

"Almost invariably, Israel is the loser - because Israel is the party most dependent on the United States, most subject to U.S. pressure and most susceptible to the inevitable chorus of received wisdom from Western diplomats, media and the intelligentsia demanding concessions. When pressure must be applied to make compromises, it's always easier to pressure the more reasonable side," Bolton wrote.

Bolton, who during his stint as UN ambassador became notorious for his harsh remarks, is currently a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute."

2. Hmmm, maybe Israel should work on being less dependent on the USA.

Then this "danger" would not be so "dangerous".

On the other hand, we could work on making the Palestinians more dependent on us too, then we could pressure them to make peace too, just like Israel. That sort of worked with Egypt, bribes for everybody. Right now, because of the policies Dolton favors, we have no leverage on the Palestinians as far as making peace.

I see Dolton has found a new home better suited to his limited abilities.

"John Bolton's Dual Loyalties
Israel's Man at the UN

By TOM BARRY

John Bolton has proved to be the right man for the job. As UN ambassador, Bolton has clearly and consistently projected the White House's Middle East policies, especially the administration's unwavering support for Israel.

As international criticism of Israel mounts, President Bush has asked Congress to approve his renomination of Bolton-a longtime State Department diplomat who has over three decades sought to debilitate the United Nations and who has earned a reputation as a defender of an aggressive Israel. The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) calls Bolton "one of Israel's truest friends in the world.""

4. Bolton is bad news for everyone...
or rather, he would be, if he hadn't been given the boot even under a Republican administration and Congress. Which he seems not to acknowledge.
