Israel will be front and center at federations´ annual gathering
In a few weeks, Israel will see one of its largest influxes of Jewish visitors since the intifada started three years ago.
An estimated 3,800 North American visitors have sold out Jerusalem´s hotels for mid-November, when the United Jewish Communities, the umbrella group of the North American federation system, will hold its annual General Assembly.

Israel itself will be the main attraction of the three-day event, beginning Nov. 16 — with plenaries and chit-chat likely to center on the state of the Jewish state amid continuing terrorist attacks and economic hardship.

Called "With Israel, In Israel: Shaping Our Common Future," the 2003 General Assembly will feature a welcome by Israel´s president and prime minister, as well as site visits throughout the country.

A wonderful example of friendship and Americans learning more of Israel's struggles.

1. Israel's struggles?
Oh, you mean how best to ethnically cleanse the rest of the Palestinians living on the land that Israel wants to steal from them?

3. disputed territories?
The occupied territories do not belong to Israel. Only racists and religious kooks believe otherwise.

4. Mind yourself
These territories will almost certainly not be allocated totally to a Palestinian state, if one is ever established.

5. Why don't you just admit
That Israel is actively stealing land that isn't theirs.

6. Nice dodge...
THE TERRITORIES ARE OCCUPIED, NOT DISPUTED!

7. You two
the territories were won in a defensive war. Israel would deserve thanks for any of it allocated to a Palestinian state.

regardless of why and how they were conquered.

10. Darranar
It's really impossible to have a reasonable discussion with people who refuse to acknowledge international law. International law says that these lands are "occupied" and imposes certain legal duties on the occupier.

In order to evade these legal (and moral) duties, apologists for the unforgiveable like Herschel, Tom Delay, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and other reactionary Republicans (far to the right of GW Bush) simply substitute "disputed" for "occupied" and thereby demonstrate their contempt for law, morality, human decency, human rights and justice.

12. it goes beyond a refusal to acknowledge international law
it's a refusal to acknowledge what is right and what is wrong.

9. I thought the land was "won"
because G-d said so?
