The PA's anti-US message
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1067162509989

Here is a "religious" homily recently disseminated on Palestinian Authority TV: "History is repeating itself. Muhammad was besieged by two powers, Persia in the east and Rome in the west. Persia represents Russia, and America stands for Rome. Persia fell first, just as Russia fell first in the east. And America will fall, may it be Allah's will, just as Rome fell."

Thus, notwithstanding hundreds of millions of dollars in annual US aid for the PA, and President George W. Bush's support for a Palestinian state, the PA's message remains staunchly anti-US.

And the message has had an impact. A poll released this week by Palestinian Media Watch (www.pmw.org.il), which I direct, indicates that Palestinian hatred of the US is deep and ingrained.

Our poll found that 42 percent of Palestinians support attacks on American forces in Iraq; 74% said they supported Saddam Hussein in the war; and only 37% feel the World Trade Center bombers were "terrorists."

While the Palestinian Authority promotes the myth that hatred of the United States is due to American support of Israel, it is clear that Palestinians have a unique disdain for the US independent of its relationship to Israel.

"Palestinians have a unique disdain for the US"

heavens to betsy....i find that hard to believe

1. Really?
Now why would they feel so about US? Gee that's a tricky question. :eyes:

And Bush supporting the Palestinian state? Haha, that's a good one. We can all se how supportive they are of the Palestinian cause and how every resolution against Israel is vetoed by the US and all that US support (like planes bombing Palestinian civilian areas) And then one wonders why they would feel the way they do about US? Give me a f-in break!

3. I don't have a problem with them comparing the USA to ROME....
I've been saying that for a couple years now...

We are a REPUBLIC, not and EMPIRE...

And yes, I know, Pat Buchanon wrote a book with that title, yes, I read it, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

5. PA
The Palestinian people have very good cause to hate America because only America enables Israel to steal their land and kill their people.

6. Self hate
In that case, they should embrace the concept of self hate because, by tolerating the terrorists and letting those same terrorists speak for the Palestinian people, THEY are harming their own chances at statehood.

7. Anti-American feelings run deep
among Palestinians, along with much of the Arab world. I believe we're better served by considering the reasons for these attitudes, as opposed to using them as a rationale to further oppose and alienate those that harbor them.
