Egypt, Hamas discuss 'lasting' truce with Israel

CAIRO (AFP) — A Hamas team was to meet with Egypt's intelligence chief Omar Suleiman on Sunday to try to clinch a lasting truce in war-battered Gaza, after an Israeli negotiator held similar talks in Cairo.

Suleiman, Egypt's pointman for Palestinian-Israeli affairs, already met separately with Hamas and Israeli officials during the 22-day offensive with an Egyptian plan to end Israel's deadly assault.

He held talks on Thursday with senior Israeli negotiator Amos Gilad ahead of his talks on Sunday with a mixed Hamas delegation from the Gaza Strip and Syria, exiled home of the Palestinian Islamist movement's powerful politburo.

Egypt's state MENA news agency said Suleiman and the Hamas officials would mull ways to turn the week-long ceasefire into a lasting truce and to end Israel's crippling blockade of Gaza by reopening border crossings.

"Egypt will discuss with the Palestinian (Hamas) delegation ways of reaching a lasting ceasefire agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians," a senior Egyptian official told MENA.

4. Hamas seeks neverending war

with the promise of "liberating" all of "occupied Palestine" (ie Israel).

They keep their people in ongoing misery with promises that will never come true.

And hopeless people believe these lies.

5. Hamas complied with the previous 6 month cease fire

while Israel reneged on its promise to allow more food and supplies through the checkpoints. Then Israel attacked Gaza on Nov. 4th, killing 6 Palestinians, then slammed a total blockade on Gaza November 5th. Only THEN did HAMAS announce that the cease fire was (obviously) over.

So here we have a repeat. Israel declares a cease fore to look good to the rest of the world, but keeps the checkpoints closed and humanitarian assistance blocked.

6. History is on Israel's side

They have made peace with Arab nations that have stopped wanting to destroy it.

They have given back lands, in exchange for peace.

What has Hamas done?

Shoot rockets, send in suicide bombers, bomb crossings, kidnap soldiers, and create ongoing misery for their people.

They have said they don't want peace with Israel.

Believe them.

Ismail Radwan, a senior Hamas leader in Gaza, told reporters here that the Hamas delegation heading to Cairo was "not to agree on a long-term ceasefire, but to discuss the reinforcing of the truce between Israel and Gaza factions."

"We won't accept less than reopening all the border crossing points between Gaza and Israel and also Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza. Simply we won't accept a truce that doesn't end the (Israeli) aggression," said Radwan.

Obama has addressed the siege also saying that the crossings must be opened for aid both humanitarian and reconstruction and for commerce.

at least the sock puppet is headquartered there and he can always rescind any "agreement" but will accept the other sides concessions made.
