Operation Cast Lead: The “Birth Pangs of a New Palestine”
The Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip against the Palestinians are part of a larger geo-strategic project. They are part of the “birth pangs of a new Palestine and Middle East” in the eyes of the U.S. and Israel. but this project will not proceed as envisaged by the U.S. and Israel. There is a wind of change and revolt throughout the Middle East and the Arab World. This process is unleashing a new wave of popular resistance directed against the U.S. and Israel, both within and beyond the Arab World.

“Operation Cast Lead” has been planned for almost a year. The “Shoah” (Hebrew word for holocaust) that Matan Vilnai, an Israeli official, promised the Palestinians has been exposed even though many media sources have attempted to whitewash it.

1. so in your eyes, the deaths of a thousand people
are the equivalent of the deaths of several million. Or if you wish to go back to 1967, I believe it's the deaths of 60,000 Palestinians. The occupation is illegal and oppressive. The attack on Gaza is horrifying and looks to be a war crime, but genocide it's not.

You've said- and I agree- that that the comparative death rates of Israelis and Palestinians is proof that Israel is acting disproportionately. Now logically, how do you compare the death of 60,000 over 40 years with the death of 5 or 6 million in 5 years? How are the two similar? Is Israel rounding up and killing Israeli Palestinians? West Bank Palestinians?

Historical perspective is a good thing.

They're such epics of conspiracy theory.

Incidentally, Shoah doesn't really mean holocaust exactly. I'm bothering to point this out because the idea of an Israeli official promising "a Holocaust" for the Palestinians doesn't really imply what this article is trying to get you to think it implies. "Shoah" in Hebrew literally means "disaster" or "calamity." The Hebrew word for the Holocaust is "ha Shoah" or "the Disaster." (Guess which one the official used?)

It's interesting that you posted this now though because I JUST read another of your posts where the OP was lambasting the press for translating Ahmadinejad in a way they found manipulative. (Which wasn't even really a legitimate criticism anyway.) But in this case, it REALLY is. You have to wonder why they would choose to translate shoah as holocaust instead of using a less loaded, (or more common) word. I mean, who uses the word holocaust when they mean "catastrophe" nowadays anyway? "Hey Bill, how do you like the Mets?" "Oh my God, they're a total holocaust." No one ever says that.

OK, I'm kidding. You don't have to wonder why they chose that word, it's obvious.

3. The word shoah strictly speaking means disaster
and in that sense it is correct however to call it a Holocaust in the WWII is overblown as for the title "The “Birth Pangs of a New Palestine” sounds like a C-section with no spinal block to me
