No tears for Hamas leader in Ramallah

By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

Nizar Rayyan, the Hamas military commander who was killed in Thursday's air raid on his home in the Jabalya refugee camp, was a sworn enemy not only of Israel, but also of the Palestinian Authority and its president, Mahmoud Abbas.
...
A Hamas spokesman said he did not rule out the possibility that the PA had asked Israel to kill Rayyan because of his role in the Hamas-Fatah clashes in 2007.
...
That was why PA officials in Ramallah Thursday did not shed tears over his departure from the scene. In fact, some of them privately expressed relief, claiming that he was responsible for the killing of scores of Abbas loyalists in the Gaza Strip during the 2007 "coup."

Many Palestinians saw the killing of Rayyan, 60, as a severe blow to Hamas and its armed wing, Izzadin Kassam. Some Hamas supporters said on Thursday that Rayyan was more significant than Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh or senior Hamas leaders Mahmoud Zahar and Said Siam.

Hamas and Fatah unfriendly to each other! That's a shocker.

2. No, but it's context.
For instance, when Hamas calls for a 'day of wrath', even in the West Bank, to mourn Rayyan's death.

It makes it not just an act of defiance against Israel, but calls on Palestinians in the West Bank to snub Abbas. Making Rayyan's death, of course, a tool. But Hamas said his blood wouldn't be wasted, so perhaps that's one of the uses they're putting it to. (Waste not, want not. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Whatever.)

3. Yes and I am sure the Palestinians in the OPT
would have a difficult time snubbing Abbas wouldn't they.

4. Tears For Him Would Hardly Be Appropriate, Sir
That his neighbors and some of his family had to be involved in his death is regrettable, but the death of the man himself is not.

6. Here's Mr. Rayyan, in his own words
...when I asked him if he could envision a 50-year hudna (or cease-fire) with Israel: "The only reason to have a hudna is to prepare yourself for the final battle. We don't need 50 years to prepare ourselves for the final battle with Israel." There is no chance, he said, that true Islam would ever allow a Jewish state to survive in the Muslim Middle East. "Israel is an impossibility. It is an offense against God."

I asked him if he believed, as some Hamas theologians do (and certainly as many Hezbollah leaders do) that Jews are the "sons of pigs and apes." He gave me an interesting answer that reflects a myopic reading of the Koran. "Allah changed disobedient Jews into apes and pigs, it is true, but he specifically said these apes and pigs did not have the ability to reproduce. So it is not literally true that Jews today are descended from pigs and apes, but it is true that some of the ancestors of Jews were transformed into pigs and apes, and it is true that Allah continually makes the Jews pay for their crimes in many different ways. They are a cursed people."

It's regrettale that this asshole made his family pay the ultimate price for his actions aong with him, but when you have the opportunity to take out someone of his ilk, you take it.

7. When I say murder I'm talking about killing his family.
So ranting about what a bad man he was is pretty irrelevant. Unless of course you think it's OK to kill the family members of Reilly bad people. That seems to be what you think. Sick.

8. He deliberately CHOSE to put them in the line of fire AFTER he knew the house was targeted
Just more of the culture of suicide on top of a self-destructive "worse is better" philosophy.

For what little it's worth, my original point in posting this was not that this monster got what was coming to him, but that despite all the pro-Hamas propaganda and scapegoating of Israel, a lot of Palestinians recognize Hamas as the bloodthirsty traitors who deliberately created this situation for their own political objectives.

11. If you're leveling a mans house, there's a good chance there's a family about.
If the Israelis really cared, they wouldn't execute their targets unless they knew for sure. It's blantantly obvious they just don't give a damn, yet they keep pretending like they do. Meanwhile it's all shoot first ask questions later.

Regardless, I'm still disgusted at the idea that they are bombing people who aren't actively a direct threat (ie, launching rockets), you know, I tend to be obsessed with this whole innocent until proven guilty nonsense.

The funny thing is that you actually believe this escalation of violence will somehow make Israel safer in the long run. Just wait until the next generation of survivors comes around, hooo-boy!

12. What a strange statement.

They (the Israelis) are expected to go the extra mile in a "war" situation. Perhaps they should send "candy-grams."

"The funny thing is that you actually believe this escalation of violence will somehow make Israel safer in the long run." Miss Cleo? Is that you?! You have no FUCKING clue about me or what I believe, so don't pretend you can even guess.

ETA: Forgot a word.
