Iranian Group Registers Volunteers to Fight Israel

TEHRAN, Iran: A prominent Iranian conservative political party is registering volunteers to fight against Israel in response to the air assault against the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

The party, the Combatant Clergy Society, announced it was looking for volunteers on its Web site. It says the volunteers can fight Israel by helping in three fields: military, financial and propaganda.

The group said Monday it decided to sign up volunteers after Iran's supreme leader issued a religious decree Sunday that said anyone killed while defending Palestinians in Gaza would be considered a martyr.

The Combatant Clergy Society has considerable political and economic power in Iran, which backs Hamas. It says the registration period will last about a week.

4. Indonesia group says to recruit fighters for Gaza

JAKARTA (Reuters) - A militant Muslim group in Indonesia said on Monday it plans to recruit as many as 1,000 volunteers to fight in the Gaza Strip in response to Israeli air strikes that have killed more than 300 Palestinians.

Indonesia's government joined in international condemnation of the attacks on the Gaza Strip, while more than 1,000 people rallied in central Jakarta to protest against the air strikes.

Ahmad Soebri Lubis, secretary-general of the Islamic Defenders' Front, said the group would start recruiting volunteer fighters in the next few days, and would send them for training at camps in Indonesia to prepare them for the "battleground." "Fighters should be in good physical condition, have a strong faith and be ready to die," Lubis told Reuters by telephone.

"They will be provided with a one-way ticket until we defeat Israel," he said, adding that the group has sent volunteers to Iraq and to Afghanistan in the past.

Just as Israel responds to rocket attacks with bombs, those being bombed today will respond with attacks. It is a cycle of violence, all sides are to blame and all sides have blood on their hands.

It's not Israel's fault that Hamas can't shoot straight or aim correctly, but Israel is under absolutely no obligation at all under any law - local, international, moral or natural - to wait until sufficient numbers of Israelis are killed before taking action.

A question for you: how many dead Israelis would you consider acceptable before Israel is "allowed" by your good grace to hit back?

What if Israel did hit back "proportionally" and just fired dozens of rockets totally at random at civilian centers in Gaza? Would that be acceptable to you?

The basic hand grenade (M67) has 6.5 ounces of explosive fill. It is great for killing everyone in a pillbox or room. It can blow up cars. It has a lethal radius of 5 meters a casualty producing radius of 15 meters and fragments can disperse as far as 230 meters.

The Quassam III (current production) which you call a firecracker or bottle rocket, carries 22 to 44 pounds/352-704 ounces of explosive in its warhead (depends on source quoted).
