Report: IDF targets Rafah tunnels
Palestinian sources report of IAF strike on underground tunnels near Rafah crossing, Philadelphi Route; say two people killed, 25 injured

<snip>

"The Palestinians reported Sunday that the Israeli Air Force has struck tunnels along the Philadelphi Route, near the Israeli-Egyptian border.

The attack, the first in the area since Operation Cast Lead began, resulted in two fatalities.

According to a BBC report, the fence separating the Palestinian territory and Sinai was breached and several Palestinians crossed over to Egypt.

Earlier Sunday, al-Jazeera television reported that the IAF struck targets on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing. Eyewitnesses reported seeing dozens of blasts and hearing guns blazing at the tunnels direction.

According to the report, several Hamas strongholds in the Rafah area were hit and about 25 people were injured."

2. Disarming Hamas is a good strategy.
The tunnels have no purpose other than smuggling weapons for attacks on civilians. Take them out so Hamas can't rearm. Take out their launchers one at a time. We have seen groups like Hamas before in history. They keep preventing their own people from having peace so they can be in power and grow their revolution. If Israel lets Hamas just keep smuggling Iranian weapons, it just gives them more leverage to make life worse for everyone. If Hamas is effectively out of the picture, Israel and sane Palestinians can get back to work on peace.
