Settlers vandalise West Bank cemetery
<snip>

"Jewish settlers vandalised a Muslim cemetery on Sunday after the Israeli army razed a West Bank outpost built by a militant settler leader without government authorisation, Palestinians said.

Residents of Harat al-Jabari neighbourhood in the city of Hebron, a frequent flashpoint between Palestinians and Jewish settlers, blamed settlers for spraying paint on Muslim graves as well as puncturing the tyres of some 24 cars.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said an investigation had been launched but could not confirm that the vandals were settlers.

Hours earlier, an Israeli army bulldozer demolished the makeshift dwelling of Noam Federman, a hardline settler leader. Police arrested four settlers who attacked a policeman and tried to set fire to a police car during the demolition.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert condemned settlers who incited violence against Israeli soldiers and policemen and vowed to bring them to justice."

Mazuz calls for incitement probe against settler activists in response to West Bank rioting

<snip>

"Attorney General Meni Mazuz on Sunday called for an incitement investigation against right wing activists, hours after rioting by settlers in the West Bank that included the desecration of headstones at a Muslim cemetery near Kiryat Arba.

During the rioting, settlers hurled abuse at security forces personnel, and called for a "revenge attack" against them in response to the evacuation of an illegal outpost built by Right-wing activist Noam Federman near Kiryat Arba.

"We hope they will be defeated by their enemies, that they will all be Gilad Shalit, that they will all be killed and all slaughtered because this is what they deserve," they said.

In a letter released Sunday, Mazuz said that statements made by right-wing activists during the rioting "crossed a red line", and are not protected under freedom of speech.

During the rioting, a number of settlers were arrested for attacking a police officer, and two young women were arrested after they tried to set a police car alight.

In addition to vandalizing the graves, settlers also damaged over 80 Palestinian vehicles by smashing windows and puncturing tires. Two police cars were damaged during the altercations."

2. Settlers rebuild demolished structure, attack Palestinians
Right-wing activists respond to tearing down of illegal building in Jewish community of Kiryat Arba by storming nearby Palestinian house, hurling stones and causing heavy damage; Palestinians report photojournalist injured by stone. Settlers say new building erected in place of one destroyed, lay cornerstone for Federman house

<snip>

"Right-wing activists damaged Palestinian fields and houses Friday morning in response to the Thursday night clashes between settlers and security forces who tore down an illegal building at a farm belonging to extreme rightist Noam Federman in the Jewish community of Kiryat Arba.

The settlers also claimed to have rebuilt the structure destroyed by the security forces.

Hours after the violent clashes, hundreds of Kiryat Arba and Hebron residents and right-wing activists took part in a cornerstone ceremony in the Federman farm.

Kiryat Arba Rabbi Dov Lior, chairman of the Committee of Yesha Rabbis, said during the event that "the expulsion forces activities in the Federman farm remind me of what we went through in Poland dozens of years ago.

"Then too we were expelled from home for no reason, only for being Jews. Then too we were not given the option of evacuating our things, taking out personal belongings. Then too they came in the middle of the night and removed us without any compassion."

Another participant said that "the hands of those who expelled Jews from their homes should be cut."

Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 01:58 AM by pelsar
we need a mini limited civil war here....not to violent.....just enough to put the fanatical settlers "in their place"...i hope they feel good...."kicking the dead"..now thats a real "mature" thing to do. (must be related to some rabbis edict or sign from the heavens, or some other divine right)....i guess there goes the "respect for the dead" moral standing.....
