Egyptian broadcaster: Jews want their property back
Edited on Fri May-23-08 07:39 PM by oberliner
A roots trip to Cairo and Alexandria planned by dozens of Israelis and Jews of Egyptian descent was called off Thursday upon order of Egypt's security services.

"We are sorry, but the situation is sensitive, and under the current circumstances we cannot accommodate you," an Egyptian official told Levana Zamir of Tel Aviv, head of the Israel- Egypt Friendship Association, who initiated the trip.

The dozens of participants, who planned to travel along with their children and grandchildren, were shocked by the cancellation.

The Marriott Hotel in Cairo was the first to announce that "we cannot accommodate the Israeli and Jewish delegation, and we are cancelling the reservations."

1. "Egyptian descent": can they prove that their ancestors didn't actually come from Florida?

2. What do you mean by that comment?
Are you suggesting that folks are claiming to be Jews of Egyptian descent but are actually not?

If so, what would be the purpose?

4. I suspect that this post was deliberate sarcasm...
though some serious posts are so bizarre that it can be hard to tell at times!

5. I don't claim to know a correct answer to your question.

Their parents or grandparents were living in what part or parts of Egypt? Unless I am mistaken, some of Egypt's territory was previously part of Israel/Palestine. Theoretically, some of that territory could be in future re-classified as one of the following:

a) aboriginal Arab and non-Druze Palestinian; or
b) aboriginal non-Arab and/or Druze Palestinian; or
c) aboriginal Egyptian; or
d) Meccan-Conquest-Mandate via Statute of Limitations; or
e) Meccan-Squatter-Mandate via Statute of Limitations; or
f) Israeli jurisdiction for citizens of the Zionist Legislative-Judicial-Executive Entity/Member Nation of the UN; or
g) Other

8. Refugee status is often temporary, unless no nation state will accept you.
Edited on Sat May-24-08 08:25 AM by Boojatta
I'm wondering whether or not any officially Muslim nation states that are not part of the "Arab world" could accept Palestinian Muslim refugees. I'm also wondering whether or not any officially Christian nation states that are not part of the "Arab world" could accept Palestinian Christian refugees. Interestingly, I cannot think of any explicitly and officially Deist, agnostic, or atheist nation states that are likely to be feasible destinations for Palestinian refugees.

Of course, the whole question is irrelevant if Palestinian refugees are unwilling to request or accept citizenship status anywhere other than Israel/Palestine.

9. No,
probably somebody knows of the tours Palestinians took in Jerusalem neighborhoods, and Adib and the "security" personnel ever true to keeping a confidence figure that everybody's just like them.

If Palestinians want their homes back and tour their childhood homes, Jews must want their homes back if they tour their childhood homes. Mandatory for Palestinians, prohibited for Jews.

One question I do have, if anybody can answer (you or others) is the post-1967 disposition of the properties that were held by Jews living in E. Jerusalem in 1948 and before who were expelled under the Jordanians. Were they confiscated from Palestinians in '67, or were Palestinians living in them allowed to continue to reside there?

10. Jewish loss of land and property
is never a concern to people.

However, the Palestinian loss of land or property is the cause of liberals and so-called Progressives blogging and blabbering about the horrid Israel.

How about the horrid countries that kicked out Jews? All the Arab ones that is?

Nary a peep from the liberals.

Why is that?
