Israel Will be at War by Summer, Politician Says
Israel Will be at War by Summer, Politician Says

Kenneth R. Timmerman
Saturday, March 31, 2007

Israel will be at war by summer, a prominent opposition member of the Israeli Knesset told NewsMax in an exclusive interview this week.

"We have no choice. We will have to do it," said Dr. Arieh Eldad, member of the opposition National Union Party.

In a wide-ranging interview during a Passover visit to the United States, Dr. Eldad explained that Israel was facing a new strategic threat, caused in part by its own failure to deal a crushing blow to Hezbollah in Lebanon and the impression of weakness last summer's failed war created in the minds of Israel's enemies.

"Hezbollah is becoming stronger every day," he said. "They are rebuilding their ammunition stores, their medium and long missiles. They are going back to their bunkers in the south of Lebanon."

Becuase they had a war against Hizzbollah that had the opposite effect and actually made thier enemies stronger, Israel has no choice but to go to war against Hizzbollah?!

Remind me, what's that definition of insanity again?

3. This article is from NewsMax.com

And it's written by Kenneth Timmerman, author of "Preachers of Hate: Islam and the War Against America."

And the "prominent opposition member" is a right-winger who supports plans to transfer the Palestinian Arabs to the Arab states and opposes the two-state solution.

Israel plans for massive summer offensive in Gaza
3/30/2007 6:00:00 PM GMT

The Israeli military will soon launch a huge offensive in the Gaza Strip to crush Palestinian resistance groups, mainly Hamas, chief of staff Major General Gabi Ashkenazi said.

"The strengthening process of the terror organizations in the Gaza Strip will have to be confronted," Ashkenazi told the parliament's foreign affairs and defense committee.

Reacting to Ashkenazi’s threats, Palestinian resistance groups said they are ready to defend Gaza, which Israel evacuated in 2005, in the face of Israeli occupation forces.

The Israeli army often carries out massive military offensives in Gaza and the occupied West Bank under the pretext of cracking down Palestinian resistance groups. Such deadly assaults often result in the death of innocent Palestinian civilians.

9. Just curious
The Israeli army often carries out massive military offensives in Gaza and the occupied West Bank under the pretext of cracking down Palestinian resistance groups.

If cracking down on resistance is just a pretext, what is the actual reason? Killing innocent civilians as this article seems to think?

8. This really doesn't have much more credibilty
than the fringe sites that claim to know the exact date and time the U.S will invade Iran. I really dislike this kind of fear mongering, and using Newsmax? Interesting source there.

10. From a much more reliable source...
MI chief: Iran, Syria, Hezbollah preparing for U.S. offensive

Israel is closely monitoring preparations by Syria, Iran and Hezbollah for a U.S.-led war this summer, Military Intelligence chief Major-General Amos Yadlin said during a cabinet session on Sunday.

According to Yadlin, Iran and Syria believe that a war this summer will be initiated by the U.S. and that Israel will be involved. He said added that the Muslim forces' preparations are defensive, and they are not expected to initiate the war.

"What we are seeing is their preparation for the possibility of war in the summer. My assessment is that they are defensive preparations for war," Yadlin was quoted by a government official as saying, referring to Iran, Syria and Hezbollah.

We are closely monitoring these preparations because could misinterpret various moves in the region," Yadlin said, according to the official.

11. They would be remiss not to prepare.
Although I am not at all convinced that this will occur. So I agree with this mans assessment. Given Ahm-an-idjits propensities for running his yap and being provocative, I don't doubt that some pretext will be available if someone wants one.
