Settlers break into Palestinian quarry, set fire to caravans
Settlers broke into a Palestinian-owned quarry in the West Bank village of Hawara on Thursday night, set fire to several caravans and escaped, Israel Defense Forces said Friday.

The sources said the settlers also beat a Palestinian guard who attempted to thwart the forced entry. The guard then ran to a nearby checkpoint to report the incident.

The guard told the IDF forces that he witnessed his six attackers fleeing toward the nearby illegal Bracha B outpost, one of three illegal outposts in the Nablus area.

2. IDF urges outpost removal after settlers torch Palestinian trailer
<snip>

"Settlers tried to burn down a trailer at a Palestinian quarry near Nablus on Thursday night, while the guard was holed up inside it. Senior Israel Defense Forces officers told Haaretz that in the wake of this attack, Defense Minister Amir Peretz ought to implement the decision of his predecessor, Shaul Mofaz, to remove the nearby illegal outpost, Bracha B (Ronen Arussi's farm).

The incident occured at a quarry near the village of Hawara, south of Nablus. The Palestinian guard reported that five settlers arrived at the site and he locked himself into the trailer, for fear that he would be harmed. The settlers then set the trailer on fire. When the guard burst out, he was severely beaten. He said he spotted the five fleeing on foot to Bracha B. The trailer served as living quarters and office for the quarry owners.

This was the second attack on the place in less than a month. On April 23, settlers torched two trucks and a generator there, causing tens of thousands of shekels in damage. The human rights group Yesh Din, which monitors legal violations by settlers, said that harassment at the quarry has been going on for three years, and that last October, a suspicion arose that the water there had been poisoned after two Palestinian workers became sick from drinking it."

<snip>

"The military sources said that an immediate evacuation of Bracha B is called for, to signal to settlers at outposts in the area that the state will from now on strictly enforce the law against them. Prompt action would also tell the Yesha Council of settlements that it needs to pick sides.

"Either they disavow the violent gang of crazies that is assaulting Palestinians there, or they back them up," an official said."

there is a bright side, as they get more brazen, and desperate, it will force the IDF to act to shut these people down and toss them in the desert somewhere, if not its obvious where its leading..a look at gaza tells us that.
