Israel's Defense Minister Hints-Preparing for Military Action (Huffpo)
Talk of Military Action in Iran Standoff By JOSEF FEDERMAN, Associated Press Writer
35 minutes ago

JERUSALEM - Israel's defense minister hinted Saturday that the Jewish state is preparing for military action to stop Iran's nuclear program, but said international diplomacy must be the first course of action.

"Israel will not be able to accept an Iranian nuclear capability and it must have the capability to defend itself, with all that that implies, and this we are preparing," Shaul Mofaz said.

His comments at an academic conference stopped short of overtly threatening a military strike but were likely to add to growing tensions with Iran.

3. Just remember whose army is sitting sandwiched between
Israel and Iran right now and whose army could easily be faced with a Shiite insurgency in addition to the ongoing Sunni insurgency should an Israeli attack go ahead. It's quite likely the Iraq Shiites will pin the blame for Israel attacking their fellow Shiites in Iran on Uncle Sam as much as on Israel.

4. Except the US changes Israel's diaper at every turn.
I would otherwise care less as the entire region is run amok by wind-up toy soldiers listening to their respective psychotic pied pipers over some *cough* "religions".

If both sides grew up, they'd all be better off. So would we.

But what's a good war when it's been going on for centuries?

At least it'll be over with.

Of course, so will the planet, but what's a little armageddon amongst friends? :shrug:

Iran's done the name calling; and according to law it's the one who throws the first punch who gets labelled the aggressor. Just like in high school where the one name-calling never gets punished; the one who throws the first punch does.

10. Lower The Level of Rhetoric and Hysteria
Put some "malignant code" into their software for their fuel processing plant. (That's viruses, spyware, zombies, etc.)

It didn't even take "malignant code" to bring down "Three Mile Island." Every system is vulnerable.

:evilgrin: "HELLO WORLD" :evilgrin:

28. Ain't hard

class myfirstjavaprog
{
      public static void main(String args[])
      {
      System.out.println("Hello World!");
      }

}

followed by

javac myfirstjavaprog.java

of for old geezers like me

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
      cout << "Hello World From Coastie\n";

}

or, if you are really ancient and go back to punch cards - like I do --

c
c Hello, world.
c

        Program Hello

        implicit none
        logical DONE

        DO while (.NOT. DONE)
        write(*,10)
        END DO

      10 format('Hello, world.')

        END

Even this arthritic, diabetic old geezer can do it. I am sure that Mossad has some code jocks who can mess up old Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fuel processing plant software. Just a few divisions by 0 or references to non-existent memory locations.

13. Do people even bother reading past the title?
Seems like many people only read the title of the article and nothing more. This is the same article in LBN with many of the same silly comments. Three countries leaders are quoted in the article, but nary a post about the other two. Anyone know who they are?

I guess had you said "mofos" it would have indicated that not one leader made "saber-rattling" remarks, but three did.

It just shows that people see that one word, "Israel," and the attacks are on!

20. I have long since lost track of the "Israel threatens" Iran stories.
Here and elsewhere. And Iran threatens Israel, too.
I spend a large portion of my day reading, and I cannot
keep up as it is. I cannot think why I would want to
wade through another one of these in detail unless there
was some sign that it was not just more propaganda blather,
which this clearly is, Mofaz spouts little else, and I do
not take kindly to being criticized for exercising that
minimum level of critical discrimination.

22. That's kinda of the point.
Mofaz has been saying this for how long now?! It seems the real propaganda here, is that it keeps getting "air play," as it were. However, had you read this piece, France and Germany, said basically the same damn thing! "We can do XYZ, but diplomacy should be used until exhausted."

So where are all the outraged posts about the 'saber-rattling' from France and Germany?

23. That (France and Germany) is not new either.
They have been on board with the "Iran must not get
nukes" project from day one. Israel is the one that
issues threats to bomb Iran. MoFo does it once or twice
a month, which is part of why it carries so little
weight anymore. Mofo tries to hark back to the old
glory days of Osirak. They are empty threats, and
Ahm-an-idjit clearly sees that, but none of the EU
powers have made or will make threats to bomb Iran.
Especially if they were actually thinking about doing
it.

And I'm still not reading it.

24. Interesting.
Since you seem to acknowledge that France and Germany have been on-board with the "Iran must not get nukes" project, why do we not see the constant railing against those two nations as we do with the US and Israel? Mofaz has made similar (if not exactly the same) comments for months, yet this article clearly had more information. It is disturbing that the additional information is overlooked and, yet again, Israel stands alone in condemnation.

Don't read it. But, IMO, commenting on an article, after only reading the title and a 'blurb,' is not much different than writing a book report on "Catcher in the Rye" after only reading the jacket cover.

26. This article has no new information. It is drivel. Propaganda.
A further re-mastication of the already well chewed.

I presume your question is rhetorical, as you must know that posters
here and elsewhere have biases towards one side or another of an issue.

I already pointed out, apparently without effect, that the US and Israel
persist in making threats whereas the EU nations, with the possible exception
of the UK, do not; and that seems more than sufficient to me to explain a
certain difference in attitude.

I suggest you ignore my shallow and uninformed comments in the future,
as I commonly do with yours. That will save us both a certain amount of
typing.

I suggest you ignore my shallow and uninformed comments in the future, as I commonly do with yours. At least we agree partially on something. Of course the next time you take offense to something, you might address that with the person who offended. my original post was to the main thread and didn't target any individual, so I fail to see why you are upset with me for "outing" yourself.

On edit: Just so you know, it wasn't even your post here or in the other thread that led to my post.
