John Kerry Visits Jerusalem and West Bank City of Jericho
In the end, Kerry has nothing, zero, zilch, nada to say. It is same old neocon stuff.

1. Exactly what is it that YOU want him to say? I thought he was fairly
candid remembering that he is a visitor and guest over there.
Or is just possible that you just wanted to bash Kerry. After all, the last thing Kerry is or ever would be is a NEOCON. Nope, never, ever!!!!!

3. If anything

I'd like him to point out his view of national sovereignty. If he supports the independent Palestinian state by any chance, then what is the point of lecturing the Palestinians on Hamas? There is nothing new that can be said about it.

4. But he is not fair or knowledgable about the conflict in Israel/Palestine
He talks of the problems the Palestine Authority has had, but nothing about concerns regarding the Israeli government. Nothing about the Wall that will destroy villages in the West Bank. Nothing about the settlements that every President, (until W. Bush) has said are an obstacle to peace, yet are being expanded daily. Nothing about the appointment by Olmert of a man, Ze'ev Boim, who publicly stated Arabs suffer from a "genetic defect" in a government that Kerry insists be subsidized by the United States.

The list goes on, but Kerry said nothing. He will remain silent... and complicit.

5. Sen. Clinton actually offered support of the Wall!
Media reports say she supported it "because it “is against terrorists” and “not against the Palestinian people.”" Human Rights Watch wrote her a letter about it. http://hrw.org/english/docs/2005/11/23/isrlpa12086.htm

I too wish Kerry had been more balanced, and had mentioned the things that Israel also needs to do to achieve peace, but it could have been far worse.

2. Kerry is against Hamas violence - this is neo-con?
If Hamas becomes part of the government, it needs to stop armed attacks, he said, and he would not support a Palestinian government if its members engaged in violence.

9. So - don't vote for Kerry or Hillary
Vote for Matt Gonzales or Ralph Nader --- that way we can all enjoy Little Brother Jebbie or Doctor Bill.

11. The problem is, HRC and Kerry become as irrelevant as Nader
Which is their problem, political support is no group therapy.

12. They got elected because they express majority opinions,
They won't become backwater politicians.

13. Politicians need to understand what is going on in real world, right?
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 12:11 PM by occuserpens
I was under the impression that we can expect reasonable assessment of real life issues from national level politicians. I have not heard much during the Alito hearings. And forget about Iraq, not to mention I/P. You simply can't talk to a politician on foreign policy if he does not care about basic facts!

14. Alito was deflecting everything as he was expected to do
He had selective senility for the days of the hearings. I bet his memory picks up miraculously when he gets on the bench.

Politicians play to their constituencies. If they don't they will not get elected. Clinton and Kerry are effective in the states they represent

15. Alito acted exactly as expected
So, dems had an opportunity to show their views. But all we heard was regular abortion crap plus student memories. This is the problem.

17. Again, the only reasonable purpose of these questions
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 10:55 PM by occuserpens
was for the dems to show their position on issues. The problem is, they failed to do this. We've heard general musings on abortion and privacy a couple of gazillion times already.
