Voters in referendum approve gun amendment to allow 15-lane facility in city limits

By Sheila McLaughlin
Enquirer staff writer

LOVELAND - Proponents hit the mark at the polls Tuesday, clearing the first hurdle toward opening a target range in this suburban city.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting from Hamilton, Clermont and Warren counties, the referendum passed by 443 votes, 1,267 to 824.

Passage of the issue - the first step in allowing Shooters' Supply Shop to relocate from another city location and expand - passed in Clermont and Hamilton counties, but failed by 17 votes in Warren County.

Voter turnout was light in the Hamilton and Clermont precincts, with 23 percent of registered voters going to the polls. Warren County, with only 405 registered voters eligible to vote, had a 37 percent turnout.

2. The range was set up in a vacant church, FYI
On an unrelated note, a gun shop in Loveland was robbed a little while back. Criminals broke the fron window of the place, but took nothing; apparently timing the response. The next night, the store was cleaned out. Now the place looks like Fort Knox.

Can't wait to check this place out next weekend.

3. Range won't be set up until summer.
It is going into the vacant Matthew 25: Ministries Warehouse and Worship Center. There is still work to be done.

This appears to be a recreational shooting post. It requires a lock and reposting Outdoor Life.
