In case you've never seen a Beretta CX4 Storm ...
Went out plinking* yesterday with my buddies ... brought my Storm and other assorted goodies.

The CX4 Storm is 9MM, takes standard 92FS mags, and is very accurate and extremely fun out of the box. Take-down is about 20 seconds, almost all controls are ambidextrous, and add-ons easy via the weaver rails. In the picture above, I have added a top rail, red-dot sight, side/bottom rail, vertical grip, and tac-light (can't see it on the left side of carbine) to the base configuration.

* My shooting buddies bring their AK's, AR's and shotties ... and insist anything I do in 9MM is only 'plinking' :eyes:

1. Nice weaponry- I like the M1911 style pistol on your hip.
Looks like a upgraded version for shooting competitions.

4. It's a Kimber Pro Target II
I shoot competitively with it, reload my own ammo, etc.

I used to absolutely hate the 1911 design and was/am a huge Sig fan instead. It just seemed too ancient and archaic ... that is until I needed to buy one for competition, and now I'm hooked. You just can't beat a 1911 for tightness and trigger.

7. I hear you. I love the feel of the 1911 and the trigger.
I have a plain-jane 1911 "officers model" by Springfield Armory. I like it quite a bit but had to have the feed-ramp polished to reduce occasional misfeeds.

8. I like the Kimber, but I'm still a Colt fan
I collect 1911's and clones. Right now, I'm in the middle of 2 project guns.

Here are some of my favs: (OK, so one isn't a 1911)

So, I couldn't open the page with the 1911's. There was gonna be a Colt, Springfield, Norinco, and Auto Ordnance.

2. I thought those required a special round?
Are they available in other calibers?

5. It's available in 9 MM now ...
... supposed to come out in .40 and .45 ACP sometime this year. I'm not holding my breath. This gun will be most excellent in .45 which I shoot/reload a lot of.

13. If you have an Academy Spots near you
Blazer 115 gr FMJ Aluminum case goes for $3.89 everyday. I've run a couple thousand rounds of it through my Hipower with no problems at all. Great plinking ammo.

BTW, that ammo from Wally World is Sellier and Bellot with a Winchester headstamp and box.

9. Also thought Storms had a higher capacity clip mounted above?
I thought Storms had the ability to mount a higher capacity (30 rounds?) clip above and parallel to the barrel? Kind of an odd, see through, toyish looking thing?

10. Nope - the only mag is through the handle
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 04:46 PM by GregW
Now that doesn't prevent you from using some high-cap that sticks out the bottom .... :D

On edit: Bear in mind that this gun is essentially a 9 MM handgun with longer barrel and stock. Mag feeds through the grip like a standard Beretta 92, action is blowback like a semi-auto handgun, but with a larger bolt.

Here's someone else's CX4 that's been more riced out. Notice the extended mag through the grip and the butt-ugly tac-light/folding-grip on the front.

14. Don't drop the mag
A partially loaded P90 mag will get seriously screwed up if dropped. Rounds will get jumbled all inside the mag requiring it to be reloaded. Big minus in my book.

15. That does sound bad.
Does the same happen with the magazine loaded in the weapon? If so I imagine that could be worse. Imagine a soldier firing off a few rounds, and then shaking up the mag in the weapon while moving to a new location. Ouch.
