San Antonio woman says she was forced to rob bank

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio woman remained in police custody today while investigators check out her bizarre account of a bank holdup.

Police said the woman, whose identity hasn't been released, tells them that an armed man held her son hostage and forced her to rob a Bank of America branch on San Antonio's West Side.

Bank employees said the woman walked in, presented a note threatening a teller with a bomb, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Sgt. Gabe Trevino, San Antonio police spokesman.

Mother and child were not hurt, but mom faces robbery charges unless another suspect is found to corroborate her story, police said.
