Link to sign the Million Mom March petition to ban assault rifles
<http://www2.millionmommarch.org/> Let's keep as many of these killing machines off our streets as possible. Remember that guns kill far more Americans than terrorism.

13. Of the four I've met, none are rape victims
One was a trauma nurse burned out from seeing people shot up,

One was was shocked when she saw the negligent manner in which a family member stored a gun,

One was a quiet single mom with no reason in particular, and

One was a recent immigrant from the UK, a retiree with not much else to do.

None of them understood the difference between an "assault weapon" and a machinegun, until I explained it to them.

16. When I went to the march in Atlanta there were a dozen pro-weapons "men"
there acosting the marchers who were almost all women and kids. These " white men" looked like they were from the bottom of the Aryan gene pool and were aggressively confronting the marchers until the few men there or the police would come over. These "men" were loosely organized around a couple guys with dirty old black t-shirts and Nextels (they sort of looked like biker rejects who couldn't afford a Harley and weren't industrious enough to build one). I followed these "men" around a little bit after the march to see what they were up to and they got their little group of a dozen together and got in their old smoking Fords with small county plates and sleazed away in cloud of burning oil.

If you want to meet a lot more rape victims, go to a CCW training course some time. I've been to three, and every time there were more women than men in attendance.

31. Maybe...
We know how much pro-gun loonies hate gays...so I hope she is there.

"The National Rifle Association's annual convention in Reno, Nev., degenerated on Sunday into a session of gay-bashing, with one commentator referring to anti-gun talk show host Rosie O'Donnell as a "freak" for her recent admission that she's a lesbian.
During a two-hour panel discussion attacking the media for distorting the views of gun-rights proponents, all but one speaker took an opportunity to slam gays and lesbians -- including O'Donnell -- in some manner. "

38. Carolyn McCarthy was just interviewed on CNN - No pictures yet
Rep. McCarthy did not give a figure for expected attendance but said this march would not approach the size of the 2000 event.

One Christian Web site (of dubious credibility IMO) gives a figure of 5,000 expected based on information from the MMM's permit application submitted to the National Park Service.

39. Donna Dees Thomases
Isn't she the political insider who wrote an "Aw shucks, I don't know how it happened" book about organizing the original march 4 years back?
Let's face it; I'm not going to listen to a bunch of shrill, uninformed, gated community soccer moms on issues of violence and crime. The vast majority of them see "violence" as something that affects others and are going on a wrong-headed moral crusade against law abiding Americans rather than a select criminal element that's the problem.
Additionally, here's the scenario for all the anti-gun rights people: if the AWB sunsets, gun rights win because there will likely be an immediate influx of correctly priced rifles. If it's renewed in the current form with no amendments, then we'll still have access to (IMHO overpriced) AR-15 clones and Kalashnikovs. Either way, the issue is dead on arrival because Gore's embrace of the MMM helped kill him in the southern and midwestern states in 2000. I don't see Kerry making the same error.
