Teabag Zombie Must Die!!! Really?
Not sure if this actually qualifies as discussing policy issues related to guns but

“The Tea Party zombies are walking the streets of America,” the game site warns. “Grab your weapons and bash their rotten brains to bits! Destroy zombie Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, the Koch Brothers and many more!”

They’re not kidding about that “many more” part. If Brit Hume, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity or any of the blond Fox News anchors annoys you, here’s your chance to slaughter them. Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck, too. If you think it’s easier to kill people who don’t believe in global warming than to argue with them, there’s a Climate Change Denial Zombie just itching to have its skull cracked open.

If you suffer from Left-Wing Misogynist Syndrome and want to sexually humiliate Michele Bachman before you beat her to death, she’s conveniently clad in just her bra. If you hate poor people who aren’t suitably grateful to the welfare state, use your crowbar — or, at “higher” levels of the game, your Uzi — on the White Trash Redneck Birther Zombie. There’s a suitable target for every species of left-wing class, gender and race bigotry.

How is this acceptable? When Loughner opened op on Gabrielle Gifford’s town hall meeting people all but accused Sarah Palin of master minding the event because of posters showing Gifford’s district w/ a cross hairs on it .

If a simple poster is enough to push an unbalanced person over the edge what do you think a video game that actually gives you points for killing real republicans (or sexually assaulting them) is going to do? What do you think the baggers are going to do if anyone depicted in that game is killed?

Should a game that advocates killing characters based on real public figures be protected under the first amendment?

1.  Reverse it and then see who yells the loudest..
I would be willing to bet it will be those who thought it was fun, and funny.

3. Who finds this acceptable? I don't know any liberals who advocate violence.
I regularly hear teabaggers that I meet in person advocate the death of the President. Many baggers call for shooting liberals and some do it ( to Congresswomen, doctors who perform abortions, museum guards etc). Teabag politicians call their liberal counterparts traitors and terrorists. Sarah Palin drew targets on us.

The people who created this game have nothing to do with our party or any of us. They are just jerks who deserve to be ignored and not promoted with attention.

23. I've heard many liberals speak about conservatives the same way.
My own mother, for one.

As far as I can tell, it's an equal-opportunity, two-way street.

7. What does this thread even have to do with guns?? Whatever the "video game" is
about is abhorent. It has nothing to do with the NRA.

For you, not everything is about the NRA.

What does this thread even have to do with guns??

Really? There were people ready to hang Sara Palin over her cross hairs poster after Loughner shot gabby Giffords. If that poster set off loughner, what do you think a game that invites people to murder character who are based on real public figures? is going to do?

What do you think might be the possible backlash if some nut job decides this game is a message from "Gawd" and picks up a real gun?

10. The same thing I think about
Edited on Thu Sep-15-11 08:31 PM by safeinOhio
a spokes person for the NRA saying what Ted says in that video.
What about the backlash for the NRA if some stoned teabagger takes up Ted's rhetoric. No difference at all, except you'll defend Ted as a spokesperson for the NRA. Did you also just defend sister Palin?
I'm calling out both sides, not just one and don't understand why want to defend right wingers and say nothing about their rhetoric while quick to point out anyone that defames teabaggers.

You may have confused me with
madinmaryland
in your quote and question.

17. Your post #8
"There were people ready to hang Sara Palin over her cross hairs poster"

Now go back and watch the video of Nugent's rant and tell me why the NRA has not kicked him out for his violent rhetoric against Obama, Pelosi and Hillary? HE IS A spokesperson and board of director member of the NRA. While the video game you rant about, which is stupid, and is not the product of any progressive organization. Just some game programmer that is trying to make a quick buck. So what, he or she does not speak for any organization that I know of. BIG DIFFERENCE, that even you as a Democrat should be able to discern. The difference is between a spokesperson of an organization and some individual making a buck that speaks for no one.

The topic isn't about the NRA; it seems that topic was injected upstream by a gun-controller. Please note before suggesting auto-induced copulation.

think about answering SafeinOhio. You started this with your outrage over rightwing people being threatened in a video game but refuse any discussion when Ted Nug does it to the left? I actually find that very telling.

A game that glorifies killing them is different.

Cream and Crap. This is a shining example of the latter.

The damage things like this can do with uncommitted voters is devastating.

You can bet this will flood RW sites as an "example" of LW thought.

Extremists stupidity has truly shown its ugly face with this one.

25. Yep. If "lefties" were half-way competent in nut-husslin' culture war...
you could argue they would make hay off shit like this. But they aren't, and MSM won't "come to their aid." The Far Right, however, doesn't need MSM.

They have their own system.

27. Sarah Palin is a first-class moran.
She is a leader of second-class crazy morans. Some people tried to shame her and other demagogues like glen beck at a time when people who happened to identify with Beck demagoguery were shooting up museums and liberal-minded churchgoers and cops and

The "liberal! media" finally thought demagoguery was important enough to address when Giffords was shot by, AFAIK, an apolitical crazy.

Video games might desensitize but I don't think the answer is censorship. Sarah Palin's cross hairs, left alone, without the demagoguery, are benign.

So what to do about the Beck-esque demagoguery. Many DUers in GD like the idea of bringing back the fairness doctrine. Was that only applied to radio? Apply it to TV then too. Sounds like a start.

The "unacceptable" topic made me think of a joke someone told me at work years ago. I had to google some keywords so I'd remember it exaclty. I copied and pasted it below.

.........

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. Nothing is moving.
Suddenly a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down his window
and asks, "What happened?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped George Bush. They are asking for a $100 million ransom.
Otherwise they are going to douse him with gasoline and set him on fire.
We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "How much is everyone giving, on average?"

"About a gallon"

...........

By the way, the first link I found after I googled this joke came from GD, Democratic Underground. It has been there and in the archives uncensored for 5 years.

Copy and pasted verbatim from the following link:
