Wisconsin Antis Predict "Wild Wild West" - Again.
http://www.wisn.com/news/28325720/detail.html

SNIP

For instance, the Milwaukee County Zoo, under the bill, won't be able to prohibit weapons on its grounds. The same holds true for public parks. And that portion of the bill has opponents speaking out.

"Milwaukee will be like the wild wild west," Said State Rep. Elizabeth Coggs. "To think that you can take a gun to a park, a bar, a daycare center, the zoo ... it's ridiculous."

Don't they get tired of being wrong? Every time there is a bill that liberalizes any guns law, in this case shall-issue CC, we alway hear antis crying that it will bring back the wild, wild, west. The bill passes and nothing happens. For that matter, the wild, wild, west was a myth created by dime novelists and Hollywood. The real West had a low crime rate. It was too dangerous to be a criminal.

1. Happy!
Personally -- I'm pleased they're bringing back "The Wild, Wild West" -- it was an awesome TV show. It deserves better than the Will Smith movie.

Who will play Jim West?

2. While I'm glad to see CC come to my State, and am especially pleased...
...to see the law requires background checks and permits, I have to admit that with political tensions running as high as they are, there is a threat of violence that doesn't fit the usual "criminal" definition.

On the other hand, this State has 600,000+ armed citizens sharing the woods every November with few accidents and only the rarest of criminal shootings.

Hopefully my fears are groundless.

9. Won't happen.
I'm not sure Wisconsin was ever really that wild to begin with. After all the hysteria dies away the people of Wisconsin will find that legal concealed carry is just not that big of a deal. Hysteria is all the anti 2nd Amendment folks have these days.

11. Well, they also have the Governor Illinois too
... and a number of urban legislators stopping CCW here.

In the last election Quinn only won 3 counties in the entire state against a troglodyte GOP candidate, but with Cook and a couple of other metro counties it was just enough by like 20,000 votes.

Then he passed a 66% income tax increase with the lame duck legislature. The odds on his surviving the next election depend on the state GOP nominating a mail box post as a candidate for him to win.

15. As I said elsewhere, it's fifty years since Washington state became "shall issue"
And somehow, we still haven't reverted to "the wild wild west," even though we actually are in the West to begin with. I know some Americans used to have to frequently reminded that there are other countries in the world (not so much in the past decade), but you'd think they'd be aware that there other states in the United States.

17. A lot of single issue voters...
...in WI voted for Repubs because they wanted CCW, and that is why the Repubs took over government in that state.
If only more Dems had accepted concealed carry Wisconsin wouldn't be in the mess they are in now.

18. Former Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm...
...predicted (while atty general) that Michigan would become the wild west if CCW was passed. She was big enough as governor later on to admit she was wrong. She even signed pro gun laws during her term.

19. Gay marriage, shall-issue CCW permits, drug legalization.
What are 3 legal issues that are hysterical before they're passed and cause none of the predicted consequences afterwards?
