9 yo boy takes dangerous weapon aboard school bus
PALMER - Police say a 9-year-old elementary school student from Palmer will be summoned to juvenile court to face charges for bringing a toy handgun on the school bus.

Chief Robert Frydryk says the school district has a "zero tolerance policy" regarding weapons. Even though the gun was a toy, it is considered a weapon because it shoots soft plastic projectiles.

Frydryk says there is no indication the Old Mill Pond Elementary School student wanted to hurt anyone. The student's name was not made public.

The incident occurred May 5. The boy told police he forgot he had it in his jacket when he got on the bus.

The Stupid Side of the Field--The Gun Control Reality Distortion Field--is obviously in ascendancy. The devotees of the Stupid Side cannot seem to undertand that they are setting up the next generation to automatically despise anything having to do with gun control. This boy, and every kid he knows, will hold the nuts who prosecuted him in everlasting contempt. And adults who are not devotees of the Stupid Side will be turned off in the here and now.

I hope it's a long time until the balance in the Reality Distortion Field is restored--and intelligent rights foes work on tearing down the Constitution.

1. The more we suppress play violence in boys, the more we encourage real violence.
Its not healthy to not allow young boys outlets to let their violent fantasies be exhausted.

Like that PBS Documentary "Raising Cain" pointed out, boys need to be allowed to be boys -- this alarmist crackdown on any perceived threat is actually making schools more dangerous, not less.

8. Probably nothing would happen.
I don't know about the toy in this case, but all my grandsons have played with Nerf guns. In daylight on a school bus, I doubt I or an "an armed GOP/NRA teacher with situational awareness" or any other person familiar with guns would react violently.

Dead kid.

Nope

Dumb policy

yep

A high school student whose parents were ardent gun control proponents wrote a report for school, a copy of which you'll find at the link below. His teacher judged it 'thorough & logical' and gave the paper a 69 out of 75.

Noting that, 'a school is no place for a gun,' Harris concluded that the use of metal detectors and an increased police presence 'are a great start to fight against guns in school.'

Here's a picture of Eric Harris, staunch advocate of gun control, on his last day at school.

17. Didn't know that about Harris.
Does that mean we need to watch out for something like this from some of our more vocal anti gun members?

14. Oh, what if a kid points an index finger at a cop while his thumb was extended upwards?
And he was wearing black gloves?

Are you for banning black glove, or fingers?

Amputation is the only answer, I guess.

19. Glad to see your authoritarian tendencies continue unabated.
We can add "toy guns" to the list of things that you want to ban people from owning "for their own good."

10. Zero Tolerance = Zero Thought...
...and Zero Intelligence. There are few things I hate in this world more than "Zero Tolerance" policies.

13. a zero tolerance policy is
a bureaucrat's best friend.

it allows for administrative action with no consequences.

- no judgment calls that can be second guessed
- no risk to their job ("I could do nothing but...we have a zero tolerance policy that requires...")
- someone else to blame in case it blows up

11. Damn. Some of the "kids" in my office have nerf gun wars. Those projectiles
are flying everywhere.

I do not take part (just have this thing about pretending to shoot people) but have been collateral damage a few times.

Point is they are having fun, blowing off steam, no one is getting hurt and management puts up with it.

Thank gawd that tight ass school superintendent does not work with us.

15. This just goes to show how idiotic gun control advocates are
and you support them.

When I grew up we played cops and robbers, cowboys and indians with toy guns everywhere and we didn't have the violence in the schools and on the streets we have now (I am 50 so you can figure out when I grew up). It's people like you and your pantywaist attitude towards guns that have caused the accidental (negligent) discharges that happen nowadays.

"This boy, and every kid he knows, will hold the nuts who prosecuted him in everlasting contempt."

Isn't that the truth.
