Congratulations: CCW in Missouri!
http://www.news-leader.com/today/0226-StateSupre-24446.html

You've waited a long time for the State Supreme Court to hand down this decision. As I understand it – there are four counties that presented evidence of "an unfunded mandate" and hence, do not have to issue permits – but yet must still recognize them?

Pffft! Big deal – I’m glad for you guys! Good job!

2. Blood in the streets!
I'm not really familiar with how things work. What happens with the quarter million dollar bond the plaintiffs had to put up? Do they just have to turn it over or is there more court work involved to get it?

3. so what will the effect be?
Will this law create chaos, anarchy, shoot-outs over parking spaces? Has concealed carry legislation ushered in a crime wave in any state where it has been enacted?

Law-abiding citizens may apply for licenses. Drug dealers, pimps and gangsters who currently carry guns will ignore this law and not apply for licenses but will continue to carry illegally.

6. maybe this will help in MD
we shall see. The bad news is the that MD Sen CCW bill is scheduled for a hearing on Mar 17. The MD House has suddenly scheduled a hearing for the House version of the AWB on Mar. 16. I don't know how many pro-freedom people can afford to attend both hearings.

I know I can't.

9. I already updated my personal carry map.
Congratultions Missouri!

I can now carry legally in 26 states, soon to be 29. Once I get an Ohio permit, I'll be good in Ohio (#27) and Michigan (#28). I'm also applying for a Connecticut permit (#29). My realistic limit under current law is 32 states. That will require getting 2 additional permits, from Washington and Maine.

11. What a bunch of optimists you are
Luv you people :grouphug: but really now, when you look at that map (any version posted here), why do you see it going our way? Missouri could be no more than one court swimming against the tide.
When the US SC finally gets a 2A case it likes, we lose. IMO.
Two reasons. One, population densities. States like NY, CA, NJ are mainly anti-gun because they're generally both dense and progressive. (Progressively heaping law upon law, regulating anything in sight.)
Two, most judges would be quicker to restrict gun rights than to uphold them.
Talk me out of it. Where is the hope?

12. The trend in CCW laws since 1986...
has overwhelmingly positive. In 1986 there were 9 unrestricted (VT) or shall-issue (WA, ND, SD, IN, MS, CT, NH, and ME). FL passed a shall-issue law in 1987, and it's spread from there. And in the nearly 20 years since 1986, no state has ever repealed a shall-issue CC law.

23. "Slavery and Jim Crow laws were once popular, too."
That brings up an excellent point: The more a State tries to limit the individual’s inalienable fundamental human right to self-defense – the more history will look back at it as non-progressive (if not plainly criminal).

35. Only in gun nut land...
Here on earth, open and virulent racism is alive and well among pro-gun specimens like Tom DeLay, Trent Lott, Larry Pratt, Ted Nugent, etc. etc. etc.

John AshKKKroft got his career started fighting integration in Kansas City…he’s been noticeably timid in protecting the rights of minorities, and notably gung-ho trampling the Constitution to punish them. Again, he’s not only pro-gun rights; he’s one of the shrillest and most strident proponents of the dishonest "individual rights" revisionist interpretation of the Second Amendment. He’s so pro-gun rights that he refused to let the FBI check to see if terrorists bought guns after 9/11.

And which side of the debate threw out an ignorant slur in Congress last year about all black people being drug addicts?

43. Gun nut "logic" or whatever it is...
The only way to oppose this bunch of nutcases, hacks and crooks is to bend right over and do exactly what they want while spouting their rhetoric.

But since you bring this nonsense up, dems...tell us how your popgun helps with this....

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- Doctors should be prohibited from testifying for their lawsuit challenging the Partial-Birth Abortion Act unless the government has access to patient medical records, the Justice Department told a federal judge Monday.
The Justice Department motion filed in U.S. District Court in New York also points out that the National Abortion Federation, a professional association of abortion providers, has previously argued that patient records are essential to determine a procedure's medical necessity.
``The government's efforts to obtain the medical records that relate to plaintiffs' performance of late-term abortions ... in this case have been completely thwarted, notwithstanding that plaintiffs admit that such discovery is entirely appropriate,'' says the Justice Department court filing.
Without the records, the government adds, the judge should prevent the doctors challenging the law ``from offering any testimony about the purported medical necessity for partial-birth abortion.''

...Wisconsin was a poor choice on my part because they don't allow CCW for ANY citizen of the state. At least it's a basically level playing field for all citizens, except for the richest that can afford to hire armed body guards.

But you have to give Mississippi credit for getting rid of it's Jim Crow CCW law.
