Gun owner arrested in case of 7-year-old shot in chest (at Mother's Day party)

Indio police arrested a man today who they say owns the gun that a 7-year-old girl was shot with during a Mother’s Day party.

Miguel Angel Sanchez, 26, was arrested today on four preliminary felony charges and two misdemeanors — storing a loaded fire arm, three charges of child endangerment, destroying evidence and violation of probation.

He, his girlfriend and their children live at the home where the girl was shot, and Sanchez left immediately after the shooting, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

Police said Sanchez “tampered or moved” the gun, but declined to say if he took it with him.

2. Gunners here would have castrated parents' pediatrician for asking if guns were stored properly.

3. Of course, because whats wrong with forcing people to answer questions....
...if they have nothing to hide, right? Hell, lets get us some wireless wiretapping while we're at it!

What about knives? Should they be asked if those are properly secured? Do they have a swimming pool? How about medications? Are all those properly secured?? This isn't about protecting "the children" but about vilifying firearm owners, pure and simple.

10. Right, because a guy on probation in illegal possession of a gun
would've totally told a pediatrician the truth and come to see the error of his ways via a safety pamphlet. I want to live in your world, it sounds nice. Absurd, but nice.

4. Probation for a felony?
Why is he not in federal court for being a felon in possession (Federal Firearms Act 1938, made five year Mandatory Min in 1968)

8. He was on probation.
That means that he was a criminal and that it was ALREADY illegal for him to have a gun. Making it double-super-dooper illegal would have meant nothing to this guy. So you want to make it illegal for me to have a gun. How does that help the situation?

What a stupid law.
