Illinois Sheriff Endorses Concealed Carry

“Why should only the bad guys carry guns?”   That’s the word from Edgar County,  Illinois Sheriff Edward Motley after Illinois legislators rejected a concealed carry bill the past week.  

Sheriff Motley is a Vietnam Veteran and Edgar County’s first African-American Sheriff.   He watched the debate from the gallery of the Illinois House on Thursday.

Why should only the bad guys carry guns? Why indeed. Ask Richard Daley.

The tide is turning. If gun control fanatics are losing African Americans and very liberal congress members, things are really getting desperate.

7. Black folks disproportionately live in urban areas.
People in urban areas are disproportionately likely to disapprove of firearms, because they receive primarily a negative association of them with crime.

It's correlation, not causation, but still true, just as most people in rural areas are more likely to harbor more negative views of religious or ethnic minorities.

4. Then a lot of LEOs are dumb. Many, especially in big cities, don't support concealed carry for
non LEOs.

8. Edgar County is middle of the state, on the Indiana border.
Relatively downstate, compared to Chicago.
