Police say man fired gun at D.M. tavern
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20110508/NEWS/105080349/-1/GETPUBLISHED03/Police-say-man-fired-gun-D-M-tavern

A Des Moines man was arrested Friday night after allegedly firing a gun at a tavern where he had been arguing with his wife.

Police said Tommy Gines Jr., 29, of Des Moines had been thrown out of the Courtside Bar & Grill, 1014 E. 14th St., after arguing with his wife.

Witnesses said Gines returned to the bar with a gun and tried to get in. After security guards and bystanders refused to let him enter, he fired the gun in the air and at the bar at about 10:15 p.m., police said. No one was hit.

Gines then drove away in a 1998 Lincoln Continental. Police found the vehicle near East 13th and Buchanan streets. Witnesses told police Gines fled on foot between houses north of East High School.

<more>

and the GOP/NRA wants more guns in more bars

what could go wrong?

5. just illustrating a point
that people can indeed walk into a bar while carrying, and have a nice, violence free evening with their family.

It's pretty common for off duty cops to drop into their chosen watering hole and get completely tanked, while armed.

Strangely, i only rarely (if ever) see them getting locked up for it.

10. Yep. Wonder why you carry since you acknowledge low chance of violence.

Seems like it's not needed. Guess you don't like being separated from you gun.

Hows-about doing the 97% that don't carry a favor and leave em at home.

14. The OP is proof enough
that violence can show its ugly head, anywhere at any time.
I haven't had to use my fire arm to defend myself in the years that i have been carrying, but my seatbelts have never seen use in car accident either, yet i still wear them whenever i drive.
The choice to carry is mine alone. The exercise of my 2A rights, as a permited carrier of a pistol, has a much better chance of defending me, then
harming you, or anyone else.

2. This is the analogy for driving drunk. Reckless disregard.
Highlights the deficiency in the "cars are more deadly" argument.

Highlights the inapplicability of that argument to using a gun with intent to cause harm to a specific person with malice aforethought.

12. Not apparent that the gun was ever in the bar.
"He was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm."

So it seems he wasn't a legal owner/carrier. This has what to do with your inanities?
