Senate rejects (stupid GOP) gun bill - colleges, local law enforcement relieved (Idaho)
http://media.www.nicsentinel.com/media/storage/paper1128/news/2011/04/18/News/Senate.Rejects.Gun.Bill-3993968.shtml

The Idaho State Senate Affairs Committee voted down the House bill that would have revoked public colleges' ability to determine their firearms policies. NIC, along with law enforcement and the State Board of Education, opposed the bill.

"The bill's sponsor did not consult or discuss the bill with the Idaho colleges and university, so there was a very serious effort by the Idaho institutions to oppose it," said John Martin, VP for community relations.

The reason it failed may be due to finances. Boise State University would no longer have been able to host the Elton John concert or other events like the NCAA men's basketball tournament, which specifically states in its requirements that no firearms be permitted. This would have resulted in huge losses in revenue, school officials said.

House Bill 222, first introduced to the Idaho House State Affairs Committee by cosponsor republican (edit: moran) representative Erik Simpson of Idaho Falls was voted to introduce to the Idaho State House of Representatives on March 10, and passed the House on March 16. It was killed in the Senate Affairs Committee on March 25.

1. Good. May or may not be dead in Texas, as well.
We've lost much of society, let's at least preserve the campuses.

2. unrec dishonest subject line
Pretty tabloid - implying that the Senate did something when, in fact, the action was by a state Senate.

4. "GOP moran fail "
I really don't think Rich Moran is a republican but I don't know for sure.

I guess that means you aren't a Packer fan?

"Rich Moran is a former guard in the National Football League who played nine seasons for the Green Bay Packers."
