When Blood Money Fails to Move the GOP
"A state legislator from Sioux Falls has given law-enforcement officers a copy of what she says is a threatening e-mail sent to her by a member of a pro-gun lobbying group from Rapid City.
Republican Rep. Joni Cutler said the e-mail was signed by a member of South Dakota Gun Owners, a group recently criticized by legislative leaders for using threatening and dishonest lobbying techniques. Cutler declined to reveal the name of the sender or the contents of the e-mail. But she said there was no doubt about its purpose.
"It's not something like 'I'm going to cut your head off,' but it's something that I think would make any reasonable person feel threatened," Cutler said. "It certainly made me feel threatened. And I acted on it immediately."
Cutler said she gave a copy of the e-mail to legislative leaders, as well as to law enforcement officials. She also said Zachary Lautenschlager of Custer, communications director for South Dakota Gun Owners, told her last week that such e-mails might be the price of introducing legislation that gun advocates didn't like.
Other legislators charged last weekend that Lautenschlager, his father, Ray, the executive director of the gun group, and other members had crossed the line between aggressive lobbying and intimidation, distortion and even threats."

1. This Group Appears to Be The Gun Lobby's Equivalent to NAMBLA
They think they're advancing their agenda, when they're actually dragging their side down.

4. This coming from the crowd who would
rather see a high school student in jail so that you can be "better safe than sorry", regardless of the existence of any evidence.

5. Still pissing and moaning about that?
Let's not forget then how the RKBA crowd desperately tried to slander the teacher for no apparent reason....

7. And The Asshole Kid Who Had The Gun....
....and his buddy who snuck it off campus are so worth of praise and defense by the pro-gunners - right???

I said it before, and I'll say it again - until all the facts come out in this case, I'd believe the teacher's version of the story before I'd believe anyone else's.

Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 02:19 PM by Superfly
You are ready to send this kid to Sing Sing and have fabricated a story to support that end...

"And The Asshole Kid Who Had The Gun......and his buddy who snuck it off campus"

(I'll remind you that the so-called "victim" also said there was no gun, but let's send them to prison, anyways...)

11. Your behavior
Advocating jailtime for someone when you don't know anything about the situation just because it supports your lame agenda.

pretty pathetic

13. I Know As Much About The Situation As Anyone Else, Gato
And all the pro-gunners were lining up to slander that teacher. Well, I'd believe that teacher long before I'd believe that kid.

IMHO, the only thing that's pathetic is your fellow pro-gunners besmirching that poor teacher.

15. No - No Magical Powers At All
But a teacher/retired cop seems (IMHO) to be a more credible source than a kid who apparantly did something wrong and is afraid of being punished for it.

12. No, that somebody here
would send a kid to prison just to be "better safe than sorry", than to value the laws of due process, lawful searches, and suspect detention.

Fucking disgusting.

16. The Kid Was NOT Sent to Prison, Superfly
He probably went to a juvenile detention center, or possibly a city or county jail. No one goes to prison unless or until convicted of a crime.

And yet you pro-gunners constantly accuse us pro-controllers of appealing to people's emotions......

18. Let's Let The Authorities Decide That
But all things seem to indicate that he threatened another student with a gun. And the authorities in Sacramento obviously felt there was enough to hold him.

I just don't understand why so many of you pro-gunners are so quick to rush to this kid's defense, and equally quick to try and destroy the teacher's reputation.....

Seems that the school was completely locked down, but no 'gun' was ever found. The kid was still taken into custody though on the teachers word alone. No news reports about what happened after, maybe he'll be charged under the Patriot Act or something. :eyes:

20. It's a GUN!
The RKBA crowd will say anything anything anything for a GUN!!!

"Fetishism falls under the general category of paraphilias, "abnormal or unnatural attraction." Fetishism is a fixation on an inanimate object or body part that is not primarily sexual in nature, and the compulsive need for its use in order to obtain sexual gratification. Inanimate object fetishes can be categorized into two types: form fetishes and media fetishes. In a form fetish, it is the object and its shape that are important....Inanimate object fetishists often collect the object of their favor, and may go to great lengths, including theft...Fetishists may use any object for sexual gratification....For some, merely a picture of the fetish object may suffice in arousing the fetishists though most prefer or require the actual object."
