Man pleads guilty to role in cover-up after Chico shooting

OROVILLE -- A man has admitted guilt for his role in covering up the shooting death of Jose Barajas Sanchez in January in Chico.
Timothy Myles Nunez, 18, pleaded guilty in Butte County Superior Court Wednesday to one count of knowingly being an accessory after the fact.

Nunez appeared in court alongside co-defendant Antonio Montes Linares, 19, who pleaded not guilty to a count of murder with the added allegations that he used a firearm and intentionally fired the gun causing death.

Nunez's attorney, Robert Marshall, said his client has admitted responsibility for his role since his first interview with police. In court, he made it clear that Nunez was pleading guilty as opposed to a no-contest plea where a defendant permits a conviction based on evidence.

1. Let this serve as a reminder ...
... if one ever hears the "advice" of some dumb-ass who counsels "drag the body inside your house".

I have literally had a few otherwise intelligent people tell me this. Not many, but a few.

2. Says who? You?
Are you familiar with these men, to know that they didn't have a previous criminal history?

3. The article gives no information about his police record.
You are assuming that this is his first offense.

Because a few misuse guns is no reason to take my guns from me, or from the overwhelming majority of gun-owners.

4. Nope. Gang related.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey will determine final charges against the men. Franssen confirmed that the incident is believed to be gang-related and noted that the victim had a history with Chico police.

The intentional conflation of gang-related criminal violence with mainstream gun ownership ultimately doesn't help your case, IMO.

#1.
What some anti RKBA say: "People who commit crimes with guns are law abiding citizens until they're not."

What most people hear: I don't care about you. You are just a potential criminal as far as I am concerned. You are unstable and your instability is exacerbated because of that gun. You are untrustworthy even though I have never met you and will never know you personally. I am afraid of you.

Republican spin opportunity: Elitist wimpy oblivious liberals.

You're a #1. Bravo.

6. I guess that means you should be arrested
You are just a criminal waiting for your time to commit your crime to come, right?
