Pennsylvania Senate Passes Castle Doctrine Legislation 43-4
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=6381

Earlier today, the Pennsylvania Senate voted 43 to 4 to pass important self-defense reform legislation. Senate Bill 273, Castle Doctrine legislation, reintroduced by state Senator Richard Alloway, II (R-33), would allow law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their home and any place outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. If enacted, this law would also protect individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker’s family when force is used.

SB 273 will now move to the House for consideration. A House Committee hearing date has not been set for this important legislation.

3. The anti self-defense lobby gets crushed again
As ineffective as they are at the national level, is hard to imagine their state level operation is much worse.

But, it is. The antis have none.

15. we already have "castle doctrine" here
this is closer to a "stand your ground" law. Private citizens now MUST retreat if they can safely do so before resorting do deadly force. this will remove that requirement of running. Its not a sad day. Its a good day.

13. Its a foregone conclusion this becomes law
The Penn. House will pass this by a wide margin, and the Gov. will sign it soon after.

Congrats, PA!!!

16. the pushers knew
and were pretty gleeful. They knew the chances of it making it last session were slim but lets be honest, when the votes were firmly in our favor, it got our hopes up. This time it will work. Fast Eddy is gone, thank god. I didnt participate, but I had friends who had huge groups contacting reps and senators for this. Flooded email, letters, and phone calls. Good job guys! A nod goes to T1mothy
