Does anyone know where Lawrence O' Donnell got .22 cents a round?
last night on his show? Just curious what the nutjob bought at Walmart. If O' Donnell got from Pima authorities that means the nutjob bought ball ammo which I've been thinking was a factor in Giffords surviving the head wound.

There's been discussion of this in other DU forum since the shooting.

1. Wonder if he just misread the teleprompter...
reading ".22 round" as "twenty-two cent round".

7. No - he was definitely talking about the cost of each round
I was just curious if he got from Pima authories what the ammo was or if they just called Walmart for generic prices or online search.

22 cents a round would be ball FMJ ammo, hollowpoints which are more devastating would be near a $1 a round.

2. Prolly googled 9mm ammo..
$13 for a box of 50 would be $0.26, $11 for a box of 50 would be $0.22

5. I've heard it reported that he bought the ammunition at WalMart
They usually have 100 round boxes of Winchester White Box FMJ for very reasonable prices. It's been several years since I bought any, and $22.00 per box might now be a bit low, but I doubt it would have been more than a few dollars higher than that, and it's possible it was 22 cents per round.

6. We have federal FMJ in 9mm for $13.50/50 locally..
Not unreasonable that another wal-mart might have it slightly cheaper.

(Or as you indicated, it could have been a 100 round box, so was less per round.)

8. Last I bought about a week ago at Walmart
Federal was near $11 a box 50 9 mm(10.97 I think) and Winchester was close to $13. 100 round Winchester White Boxes was just under $25. The Federal was cheaper for 100 than Whitebox.
