2 Shot in New Hampshire Town, School on Lockdown (Polling place, voting suspended)
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 12:52 PM by shadowrider
DEVELOPING: New Hampshire State Police say one person is in custody after two people were shot in the North Country town of Pittsburg.

There's no immediate word on the condition of the victims.

State Police Major Russell Conte of the field operations bureau confirmed one suspect was in custody, but he didn't know if more than one suspect was being sought.

The kindergarten through grade 12 Pittsburg School was locked down after the 11 a.m. shooting and voting at the school was suspended.

School Public information officer Sheli Aldridge says all 130 students are safe and no one is coming or going.

UPDATE: Shooting took place elsewhere, school went on lockdown according to procedure.

Most schools that operate as polling places don't have students in them.

19. Violence is also a daily occurrence in the UK
In some countries with gun bans like Mexico and Russia violences is an hourly occurrence.

than say, baseball bat violence or sexual violence?

34. You really need to stop playing the disingeuous fool.
They've been listed here many times, as you well know.

Besides, if cars are only intended for transportation, why do they seem to be used to kill so often?

36. Uses for guns
Target shooting , self defense ( I have used a firearm in defense of myself w/out firing a shot)as a former machinist I like to take my guns apart and try to figure out what kind of tooling was used to make them, I was especially impressed when I bought a "used" S&W and found that the cutter marks on the slide were still sharp. They certainly hold their value I purchased a Mini-14 for 475$ before the election it's worth 800$ now.

Need I go on?

28. Firearms accidents are quite rare.
And I've heard of few bat-violence incidents were the bat-ist stuck around afterward. Does that make them drive-by's or simply get-aways?

Either way, the "drive-by" label is a red herring.

They kill on a minute-ly basis.
They injure on a second-ly basis.

Car accidents kill someone every 12 minutes.
Car accidents injure someone every 14 seconds.

In the time it took me to type this, 2 people were injured in a car accident.

Every hour 4 people die
Every hour over 250 people are injured

2 more people were injured while I continued to type...

Every year over 42,000 people die in car accidents
Every year almost 3 million people are injured in car accidents

2 more people were injured...

6. Your Fox News link left out: 'voters were again being allowed into the building'
They left this out of the AP article. Another reason to never link to Faux News.

'But she said voters were again being allowed into the building.'

immediate situation.

CNN and MSNBC do it too, it isn't just limited to Fox.

"Didn't someone here not long ago say this stuff never happens?"

By all means, point out someone who did.

15. Someone did say it, it's no strawman. However
since this shooting took place elsewhere, and NOT the polling station, I removed the comment and inserted an update strictly to be fair about the whole thing.

I haven't heard an update yet, but was away from the tv, so they may have corrected it by now.

All you have to do is to through the active threads on weapons in polling places to find it.

And they didn't get their own thread. I made a comment off the cuff and was wrong. The comment has since been removed.

The attitude that those whom would carry a weapon of any type "into a chuckee cheese etc" are paranoid cowards and shivering nebbishes wallowing in their own fear and racism yada yada

Personally I conceder the term "tote" or "toter" to be insulting.
