69-year-old Ala. woman shoots 18-year-old intruder
DECATUR — A pistol-packing 69-year-old woman in northern Alabama believes intruders will think twice before messing with her again. Police said Ethel Jones shot an 18-year-old man in the stomach when she found him inside her bedroom at her home in Decatur.

I've seen some here say that she should have fighting skills rather than a gun. I think this person is better off with the handgun than going for a black belt.

"she's had a gun for years." presumably she's never needed it before - kind of like my fire extinguisher.
