GOP Tries to Soften Blow of Rep. Travis Childers (D) ’ NRA Endorsement
On Monday the NRA’s political arm commended Childers for his “active and proven commitment to our Second Amendment rights.”

In his endorsement letter, NRA Political Victory Fund Chairman Chris Cox praised Childers (D) for his work to loosen gun restrictions in the District of Columbia and for sponsoring other pro-gun legislation.

Democrats believe the endorsement will play well in Northern Mississippi where the importance of being pro-gun was recently demonstrated in the Republican primary. In that contest former Fox News commentator Angela McGlowan found herself under attack due to comments she made that appeared to support putting restrictions on gun ownership. She was never really able to dig herself out of that hole on the campaign trail.

1. But, but the NRA is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the GOP
I heard it right here on DU.
They'd never endorse a Democrat

2. I hear ya. This story can't possibly be true.
The NRA is a propaganda arm of the GOP and is fully right wing.

At least that's the rumor, according to some.

6. The NRA is a one trick pony ...

They support RKBA and little or no interest in other political issues.

The will support a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, a Libertarian or a Tea Bagger as long as they support RKBA.

3. Yeah, but he's no *true* Democrat
The NRA would never endorse a true Scotsman Democrat, so the very fact that the NRA endorsed Childers is evidence right there that he's actually a crypto-Republican, right?

7. Whenever someone makes that case...
... I like to point out that Howard Dean has been endorsed by the NRA. Eight times.

8. Do their eyes bug out ?
Do they froth at the mouth and respond with:

"I think Howard Dean should take his tax-hiking, government-expanding, latte-drinking, sushi-eating, Volvo-driving, New York Times-reading, body-piercing, Hollywood-loving, left-wing freak show back to Vermont, where it belongs....and that goes for his NRA endorsement too?"
:hide:

Dueling stereotypes!!! Paddle faster! I think I hear banjo music!

9. The simple truth that the NRA gave several times the amount of $$$ to Democrats ...
Than the Brady Campaign does TO ALL CANADATES COMBINED, is the biggy on making eyes bug out, and heads explode around here..

In 2008, the NRA gave $236,580 to Democrats.

In 2008, the vile Republican founded, lead, and staffed, Brady Campaign gave only $32,750 to all candidates.

Numbers are from "Open Secrets"

After they duct tape their heads back together, they point out how much the NRA gave to Republicans, but that still does not change the fact that they gave MUCH more to Democrats, than the REPUBLICAN LEAD Brady Campain/MMM/VPC....

Another little tid bit, that many in here cannot wrap their brains around, is the fact that the NRA gets the vast majority of its money, from DUES PAYING members, gun industries, have their OWN advocacy group..The National Shooting Sports Foundation...the NSSF... But around these parts, they get ignored...as the NRA (and its round about 9 MILLION dues paying members, are "the real gun lobby") are the ones vilified..

http://www.nssf.org/industry/aboutNSSF.cfm

Some of the dunderheads around here, continue to attack the NRA as being an arm of the gun manufactures, while IGNORING the "political arm of the gun manufactures"

But it is all good...after all... It is funny, and...

We are still winning... And the more they "pretend to know" only helps us more...

I may make a new thread on this..
